A new trailer from Mortal Kombat 11 features some very visceral gameplay from the fighting game's new guest fighter, Rambo. The action movie veteran was confirmed in a reveal trailer released earlier this month; he'll be added to the ever-growing roster of fighting champs alongside returning warriors Mileena and Rain. He'll be joining other action movie juggernauts that have already made their way into the game, like Robocop and the Terminator.

The musclebound Vietnam vet is certainly a good fit for the Mortal Kombat universe. Sylvester Stallone makes for a perfectly menacing figure, and he's definitely not been one to shy away from lethal weapons. His broad arsenal of increasingly powerful firearms make him a powerhouse in combat, and the films establish multiple times over that he's a master of hand to hand combat and brutal guerrilla warfare. He has a proud tradition of going up against impossible odds with nothing but his fists and his trusty survival knife at his side and emerging victorious, if bloodstained.

Mortal Kombat 11's new gameplay trailer shows the warrior in action and further demonstrates why he's such a good pick for the game. The trailer shows Rambo in top form, brutalizing enemies in a fist fight and mauling them with that big knife of his. At a distance he can pelt foes with arrows from his compound bow, or unleash hell with some powerful machine guns. He can also make use of a broad array of traps to pay homage to his guerrilla training. This was vividly demonstrated in the trailer as he swung log traps at his foes and planted claymore mines to stop them in his tracks. He can even throw grenades but, in true action hero form, he turns away from the explosion. It looks like developer NetherRealm Studios did its homework in making Rambo as true to life as possible, and, to really hammer that home, the character features the likeness and voice acting of the legendary Sylvester Stallone himself.

Rambo might be a bit past his prime, but he's an enduring pop culture image. He's also the latest in an ongoing trend of 80s action heroes entering the bloody universe of Mortal Kombat. While these slightly outdated beefcakes might be a bit off-putting for younger fans of the gory fighter, Rambo and his ilk are sure to be a very welcome sight for fans who've stuck with the franchise since its early days in the 90s. It certainly doesn't hurt that he has such a broad moveset.

So far, Mortal Kombat 11 has kept up an impressive track record of post-launch support. This new DLC shuld thrill both Mortal Kombat fans and Rambo enthusiasts alike. With the release of the game's Ultimate edition on November 17th, the same day Rambo is released, now is a good time for fans to get involved with the gruesome brawler. The arrival of Rambo in Mortal Kombat 11 should considerably sweeten the pot.
