Here's a guide to Spawn's fatalities and brutalities in Mortal Kombat 11. The Spawn comic debuted in 1992 and was created by Todd McFarlane. The story follows former assassin Al Simmons, who is murdered by his own agency but makes a literal deal with the devil to come back to Earth as a Hellspawn to see his wife Wanda again. The comic became a cult success thanks to its dark themes and stories, in addition to its eye-catching artwork.

Spawn later received a movie adaptation in 1997 with Michael Jai White (The Dark Knight) playing the title role. The film featured some impressive practical effects, but like many comic book movies of its era, suffered from a bad script and hammy overacting; the PG-13 rating didn't help matters either. It received an acclaimed HBO animated series too, which featured the distinctive voice of Keith David (They Live). Todd McFarlane has also spent years pushing a gritty, low-budget movie reboot, but despite being set up at Blumhouse and Jamie Foxx being attached, it has yet to move forwards.

Mortal Kombat 11's DLC Kombat Pack has added some major pop culture characters to the hit video game sequel, including the Joker and Arnold Schwarzenegger's T-800, which was based on the character's appearance in 2019's Terminator: Dark Fate. Spawn is the latest addition to the line-up and, best of all, he's voiced once again by Keith David. Just like every other fighter in the game, Spawn has a unique set of fatalities and brutalities at his disposal after winning a fight, which are listed below for the PS4, Xbox One and Switch versions of the game.

Spawn Fatalities:

  • Rest In Pieces (Mid-Range): Forward, Back, Down, Down, X (PS4) / A (Xbox) / B (Switch)
  • Unchained (Mid-Range): Forward, Back, Forward, Circle (PS4) / B (Xbox) / A (Switch)

Spawn Brutalities:

  • The Klassic: Down x 2, Triangle / Y / X (Hold)
  • Speared: Forward x 3 during throw

Spawn's brutality moves in Mortal Kombat 11 must be unlocked via Towers of Time first. The Spawn fatality moves are fairly nasty, with Rest In Pieces, for instance, seeing him wrap his cape around an opponent's head, piercing them with his chains and finally causing them to explode into gory chunks. Not nice for them, but really fun to pull off.

Spawn is a great addition to Mortal Kombat 11 but it will be interesting to see what happens with the franchise moving forwards. Fans are dying to see a new Spawn movie after many years of hype, but despite McFarlane's teases, it doesn't seem any closer to production than it did a few years ago.
