Poppy Playtime is an indie horror puzzle game in which players must survive inside the Playtime Co. Factory, but future chapters may take players outside the factory as well. Developed by MOB Games, Poppy Playtime is an episodic game bearing some similarities to Five Nights At Freddy's that will take place over the course of several chapters as players dive deeper into the horrible secrets that Playtime Co. is hiding. Currently, only Chapter One is available to play, but a recent trailer confirmed that Poppy Playtime Chapter Two is coming very soon, and the game will be ported to mobile sometime in the near future as well. Given the new content coming

Poppy Playtime takes place inside the abandoned Playtime Co. Toy Factory after the entire staff disappeared ten years prior. As an ex-employee of the company, the player receives an envelope containing a mysterious VHS tape and a letter claiming that all of the employees are still inside. After obtaining their GrabPack and entering the facility, however, players will face the horrifying Huggy Wuggy and other toys that are a bit more lifelike than they should be.

A lot of what makes Poppy Playtime so terrifying is the claustrophobic atmosphere of the final chase, which keeps players trapped in a small space as they’re attacked by the massive Huggy Wuggy. Huggy’s ability to contort himself to fit in the vents for this climactic sequence adds to the scare factor as well, making this menacing monster seem even larger and more intimidating compared to the small environment. However, based on unused models found rendered in-game, it’s possible that Poppy Playtime may eventually take players outdoors to experience a whole new type of terror.

What Poppy Playtime’s Unused Models Could Mean For Future Chapters

Huggy Wuggy is a fearsome foe in Poppy Playtime.

By exploring outside the boundaries of Poppy Playtime’s map, YouTuber Shesez has discovered that the exterior of the Playtime Co. Toy Factory actually has a unique in-game model despite the fact that players never travel outdoors. Not only is the entrance of the facility fully modeled in-game, but several exterior domes and windows are also modeled as well, and the attention to detail seems to suggest that they were originally meant to be visible at some point during gameplay. It’s possible that MOB Games initially intended for players to enter the factory from the outside, but this unused model could potentially indicate that there will be outdoor sections of gameplay in future chapters.

However, while several unused aspects of the building’s exterior are modeled in Poppy Playtime, there are no outdoor environments surrounding the factory that players could explore. Instead, taking the camera out of bounds reveals a vast white space around the building, which wouldn’t exactly be the best environment for a high-stakes chase or scary scenario. It may be more likely that the developers simply scrapped content that would have required them to show the exterior of the building and left the unused model rendered in-game after production. Whatever the case may be, the Playtime Co. Toy Factory’s exterior model showcases the attention to detail that went into the design and development of Poppy Playtime.
