A well-edited fan video imagines an Oscars ceremony in which Jared Leto and Morbius win every award. Following the success of 2018's Venom, Sony have began to expand upon their own universe which puts the focus on a number of villains from the Spider-Man comics. The most recent addition to Sony's Spider-Man Universe was this year's Morbius, which saw Leto star as the film's titular character, Dr. Michael Morbius and followed his attempts to cure his rare blood disease, which ultimately leads to his transformation into a living vampire.

Morbius' theatrical release was not only met with an incredibly cold reception from critics and fans alike, but the film also saw one of the biggest second-weekend drop-offs for a Marvel movie at the box office. Following its release, however, Morbius found itself at the center of a social media storm, which saw the film widely "celebrated" in a series of parody memes and posts, even leading to the coining of the phrase "It's Morbin Time." As a result of this new-found popularity, Sony decided to re-release Morbius just two months later, with extremely disappointing results.

A new fan-made video now takes the jokes surrounding Morbius one step further by imagining an incredibly successful night for the film at the Academy Awards. Shared to Youtube by Roryo, the parody uses a mixture of clever editing and AI-generated voices to create a bizarre video which sees a variety of celebrities including Judi Dench and Morgan Freeman praise Morbius and back the film for a major Oscars win. The video culminates in a lengthy speech from Leto, which includes his now infamous "catchphrase." Check out the video below:

The reaction to Morbius across social media was certainly unprecedented, with Leto having previously shared a video in direct response to the jokes, in which he can seen reading a fake screenplay titled "Morbius 2: It's Morbin' Time." As Sony now look to their upcoming SSU projects, which include Madame Web and El Muerto as well as Venom 3, news surrounding any sort of follow-up to Morbius have yet to be confirmed. The film's end-credits scene saw Dr. Michael Morbius meet up with Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming, teasing a potential Sinister Six team-up in the future, a scene which was generally met with mixed reactions from audiences.

With the attention on Morbius appearing to have somewhat cooled off in recent weeks since its theatrical re-release, this video perfectly highlights the level of parody that has surrounded the movie since it first hit theaters. It's not entirely clear whether the intense meme-ification of Morbius is a blessing or a curse for Sony, as even though the film failed to score at the box-office, it has maintained considerable relevance through these unconventional means. For now, it's fair to assume that Sony will be hoping to strike a perfect balance of both box-office success and social media popularity next time around.
