As Morbius is set to hit theaters next month, fans are again wondering if Tom Holland's Spider-Man will be in it, and star Jared Leto addresses those rumors. Following the massive success behind Spider-Man: No Way Home, Sony Pictures is continuing to build out its own Marvel-centric series known as Sony's Spider-Man Universe. The studio is planning to bring multiple villains from Peter Parker's mythology to the big screen as anti-heroes, with the idea of having them eventually face off against the friendly neighborhood hero. The inter-connected franchise began its run in 2018 with Venom, with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock discovering the symbiote that transforms him into the titular character.

The next Spider-Man baddie that is getting the anti-hero treatment is Morbius, featuring Leto as Marvel's vampire. After multiple delays, many caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, Morbius is less than a month away from finally hitting theaters. While there has been a lot of mystery shrouding the project, one of the biggest questions about the film is Spider-Man's potential cameo role. The first Morbius trailer alluded to the Wall-crawler's existence, as a Spider-Man graffiti could be seen behind Michael Morbius, which is the first time the Marvel hero has visually been spotted in Sony's franchise.

With Morbius' release coming up, there are still questions floating around about if Holland's Spider-Man will show up. In a new interview with Entertainment Tonight, Leto is directly asked if fans should expect to see Holland making a cameo as the beloved Marvel hero. While the actor for obvious reasons can't directly answer that question, Leto makes it clear that he would love nothing more than to share the screen with Holland's Spider-Man. Check out his quote below:

I'll tell you, I would love to get in the ring with Spider-Man. I think Tom Holland is amazing, and we'd make quite a dynamic duo.

Following Spider-Man: No Way Home's multiverse plotline, the door is definitely open for Holland's hero to appear. However, given the end of his Spider-Man trilogy, it may not be something they explore for quite some time, especially as Marvel Studios and Sony figure out the next big story arc. If there is any Peter Parker in Sony's separate universe, it's more likely that it would be Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man variant, since The Amazing Spider-Man films are more tonally in line with Sony's Spider-Man Universe.

Whether it's Holland, Garfield, or even Tobey Maguire, Sony's Spider-Man Universe should at some point actually introduce the hero their franchise is named after. Despite the baddies being reimagined as anti-heroes, there are still ways to pit them against the Web-slinger. Rather than having a traditional hero-vs-villain arc, their battles could be more about opposing philosophies in how to protect the world. With Morbius being the next example to focus on a morally grey hero, time will tell what role Spider-Man plays in Sony's franchise.
