Jared Leto has recently teased three significant character changes that his character will go through in the upcoming Marvel film, Morbius. The film is set to follow a biochemist named Michael Morbius (Leto) as he tries to cure himself of a rare blood disease. Unfortunately, through his work, Morbius inadvertently infects himself with a form of vampirism instead. The film is being helmed by Life director Daniel Espinosa, and will also star Michael Keaton and Matt Smith.

While many moviegoers have been looking forward to this film for some time, Morbius has struggled to find a release date, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic. The premiere of the film (which was originally set for July of 2020) has been pushed back several times and most recently has been pushed back another three months, from January to April of 2022. Due to this, much is still left unknown about the film, leading to much anticipation from viewers.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Leto has teased some new information about his character of Morbius. According to Leto, Morbius makes three significant changes throughout the film. Leto describes the character as starting off as "searching for a cure," then continues on to detail how once the character finds a cure, he "becomes powerful and stronger than he's ever been." Leto continued on to mention that there is one final change the character of Morbius goes through, however he did not give any details as to what this final change might entail. See Leto's full quote below:

“Morbius gave me the opportunity to have this character that really makes three pretty significant transformations – He starts off very, very sick searching for a cure disease… then he finds a cure and it becomes powerful and stronger than he’s ever been before. Then there is another transformation that happens. It was it was kind of the perfect role for me. Honestly, I enjoyed it quite a bit.”

Jared Leto in Morbius

Leto himself is famous for being an actor who transforms himself for every new role he takes on. Most recently, Leto was almost unrecognizable as Paolo Gucci in Ridley Scott's newest film, House of GucciIt's no wonder then, that due to the transformations Morbius undergoes in the film, Leto described it as "the perfect role" for him. Leto finished by saying that he "enjoyed it quite a bit."

With such positive endorsement from Leto, as well as the constant pushing back of the release date, Morbius has certainly created some high expectations for itself. Hopefully, the chance for viewers to finally get their Morbius fix (and maybe learn the truth behind the mysterious third transformation that Leto hinted at) is right around the corner. While many seem confident that the final release date has been solidified, with climbing Omicron cases the future is never certain. However, audiences remain hopeful that they will finally get to see Morbius on the big screen in April of 2022.
