With Morbius joining the MCU, Jared Leto hopes his vampiric anti-hero will clash with Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man, among other Marvel characters roaming the multiverse. From director Daniel Espinosa (Life, Child 44), Morbius opens the door to the conflicted Dr. Michael Morbius, who is battling the hope to help others and the new, dark instincts he harbors after pursuing a risky cure for his own rare blood disorder. Joining Leto on screen is Michael Keaton as his Spiderman: Homecoming role as the Vulture, and Matt Smith (Doctor Who) as the film's antagonist, Milo.

After exhausting all other medical possibilities, the biochemist embraces a form of vampirism in a Hail Mary effort to cure himself. The results appear promising, until he begins to recognize darker instincts, superhuman powers, and the conflicting need to save others suffering from the disorder while protecting them from becoming bloodthirsty beings. While it is unknown how returning characters like Vulture will impact the universe, potential Morbius Marvel movie crossovers have already ignited conversations about future potential crossovers for Leto and other MCU characters.

In a Screen Rant exclusive, Leto shares his excitement for the future of Morbius. He notes that, given the Sony's Spider-Man Universe connections, it makes perfect sense for his titular character to meet up with Tom Hardy's Venom, as well as Tom Holland's Spider-Man. However, the one crossover that Leto is most intrigued by his biochemist-vampire meeting Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. See his full response below:

Besides Robert Downey's Iron Man, there are so many people that would be fantastic. But, of course, Venom would make a lot of sense. That would be fun.

Morbius Trailer Jared Leto

Originally seen antagonizing Spider-Man in the Marvel Comics series, Morbius already has fans questioning which universe the film takes place in, and what that could mean for future titles. Until now, no one but the actor has teased the idea of reviving RDJ's beloved Iron Man. While fan theories are focusing on new variants of Iron Man joining the MCU in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the Morbius star is setting his sights on past films, which would make for a shocking cameo performance.

While unlocking the multiverse gives Marvel endless possibilities for introducing new characters and exploring universes never seen before, there has been little discussion about bringing characters back from the dead. Since Mobius technically involves undead entities with the vampire narrative, there could be a future where familiar faces return for a special performance, but while RDJ is highly celebrated and loved amongst fans, reviving his Iron Man might be a mistake. The MCU has earned a new reputation for their celebrity cameos and nostalgic character introductions, sometimes sacrificing the quality of story in favor of those appearances. If RDJ is ever to return as Iron Man, it will need to be dealt with carefully, so that Morbius does not suffer a fate of using cheap tricks to earn big numbers.
