An Easter egg in the Morbius trailer is a good sign for Green Goblin having a long-term presence in the MCU that extends past his role in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Though not explicitly confirmed by Marvel, Green Goblin is perceived to be a lock for Spider-Man’s next MCU adventure. Based on what’s known about the movie, many are assuming that this is a one-and-done story for the classic Spider-Man villain.

Appearances from The Amazing Spider-Man 2’s Electro (Jamie Foxx) and Spider-Man 2’s Doctor Octopus (Alfred Molina) mean that the MCU is indeed using the multiverse to bring in characters from Sony’s other two Spider-Man franchises. That detail, combined with clear teases from the Spider-Man: No Way Home trailer as well as casting rumors, have built strong evidence for Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin gracing the big screen once more. The implication of the trailer is that Dafoe’s sinister take on Norman Osborn from Sam Raimi’s first Spider-Man movie will be among the primary threats to Tom Holland’s character in No Way Home.

Given that Spider-Man: No Way Home is about multiverse shenanigans and converging timelines, there’s a sense that Peter Parker’s fight with Dafoe’s Green Goblin will end either with his death or with everything being put back in its proper place. In other words, there isn't much expectation for him to return. However, the Morbius trailer has an Oscorp Easter egg that can lead to Norman Osborn having a role in the MCU that goes far beyond No Way Home. The Oscorp logo on a building in the trailer proves that the Green Goblin’s company - and in turn, Norman Obsorn himself - exist in Morbius’ universe.

Oscorp in Morbius

For now, there’s some degree of uncertainty over Morbius’ connection to the MCU, but the movie’s apparent Vulture (Michael Keaton) cameo and Venom 2's MCU reveal are indicative of it being linked in some way with the Marvel Cinematic Universe. If that’s the case, the existence of Oscorp would provide a way for more Green Goblin appearances after No Way Home. Willem Dafoe’s character could be defeated for good, but the Norman Osborn that lives in Morbius’ world could be out there somewhere as well. A later movie could introduce a version of the villain who’s played by another actor.

Marvel finding room for Norman Osborn outside of Phase 4 makes sense, especially since there’s so much for him to do that doesn’t have to happen in a Spider-Man movie. In the comics, Norman Osborn eventually emerged as a villain for the entire Marvel Universe through the creation of the Dark Avengers and other nefarious schemes. Despite only being a human and not an alien warlord like Thanos, Osborn has the brilliance and the resources that it would take to become a top-tier threat to the MCU's heroes. Depending on what happens in Morbius, Osborn has the potential to do just that regardless of how things end for Dafoe’s Green Goblin in Spider-Man: No Way Home.
