The MCU's Moon Knight on Disney+ has introduced audiences to Oscar Isaac's titular superhero and his several alternate personalities, all of whom make up one of the most complicated and fascinating characters in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

A major contributor to Moon Knight's success has been Ethan Hawke's nefarious villain Arthur Harrow. With such a powerful antagonist to outdo, a possible season 2 must provide a worthy foe for the Fist of Khonshu to face next. Thankfully, there are plenty of worthwhile candidates from the comics that could fill this role perfectly.

Black Spectre

Black Spectre attacks in Moon Knight comics.

Black Spectre is the moniker taken on by several villains from the Moon Knight comics. The villain is a scarcely used but always entertaining antagonist in some of the best storylines featuring the avatar of Khonshu.

This particular antagonist could perfectly fill the shoes of Harrow's villainy, as he presents a more intimidating physical threat, whereas Season 1's primary antagonist poses a more psychological danger. The character could also open the door to Moon Knight's street-level crime-fighting, as he is often presented as a domestic villain in New York City.

Stained-Glass Scarlet

Stained-Glass Scarlet is a particularly complex foe of Moon Knight's early comic book history. First introduced in Doug Moench's preliminary run on Moon Knight, Scarlet has been presented both as a friend and foe of the titular superhero, whose crusade against villainy has often gone too far, forcing Khonshu's fist to intervene.

Scarlet could make the perfect villain for Marc Spector's next outing, given that she too appears to have a similar bout of dissociative identity disorder, though perhaps not to the extent of her heroic counterpart. The character's deep personal trauma has caused her to split between the loving mother she had once been and a vengeful vigilante that nearly burns down New York City in her wrath.

Pharaoh Rama-Tut

Pharaoh Rama Tut on his throne

Rama-Tut is an ancient Egyptian Pharaoh that is actually an alternate identity of Kang the Conqueror himself in Marvel Comics. The villain had frequent battles with the Fantastic Four and West Coast Avengers before being revealed as a variant of Nathaniel Richards, as several identities from throughout Marvel Comics history were combined to form the villainous Kang.

With the MCU building up the threat of Jonathan Majors's Kang, it seems inevitable that fans will see more versions of the villain from throughout history. Given Moon Knight's inherent connection to ancient Egypt, the series seems like the ideal place to introduce one of his more famous variants, perhaps as a former avatar of one of the gods of Egypt.

Shadowknight

Shadowknight Marvel Comics

Shadowknight is a villain crafted to mirror Moon Knight in every conceivable way, fighting for everything that the superhero himself despises. Certain versions of the character have even claimed to be the true servant of Khonshu, threatening to undermine Marc Spector's relationship with his patron deity.

This particular villain has actually already been introduced to the MCU, albeit in a very mild incarnation. In the comics, the Shadowknight is the alter-ego of Marc Spector's presumed deceased brother, Randall. Viewers will recognize that Moon Knight's fifth episode introduced this long-lost sibling of Marc's, claiming that the child died off-screen. Comics readers will immediately be suspicious of this death, wondering if the Shadowknight could already be lurking in the background of Marc's life.

Werewolf By Night

Werewolf by Night roaring and launching at someone in Marvel Comics

Jack Russell, sometimes called the Werewolf by Night, is an important character in Moon Knight's history. It was in an arc within Russell's self-titled series that the white-clad hero was first introduced, originally as an antagonist tasked with hunting down the werewolf. The two would eventually form a tense friendship, fighting both against and alongside one another throughout the years. And, though they often find themselves at odds, these two Marvel heroes might also make the perfect duo.

The Werewolf by Night has already been confirmed to be arriving in the MCU in the franchise's first Halloween special, where he will be played by Gabriel García Bernal. This special will be paramount in deciding whether the character's future will be that of a hero or a villain.

Bushman

Raoul Bushman

Raoul Bushman is perhaps the most important member of Moon Knight's Rogues Gallery. The mercenary was a frequent collaborator of Marc Spector's during his gun-for-hire days and was the man who shot Spector and left him for dead, leading him to be resurrected by Khonshu, becoming the Moon Knight.

Bushman remains one of the best Moon Knight-related characters not yet adapted in the MCU, though he was mentioned by name in the fifth episode of the series, indicating that he may yet have a future in a forthcoming season. If this is the case, Moon Knight fans should prepare themselves to delve deeper into the psyche of Marc Spector, as some of his darkest stories have to do with his archnemesis, Bushman.

Midnight

Midnight Man fights Moon Knight in Marvel Comics.

The Midnight Man, later referred to solely as Midnight, is the name of two villains in Marvel Comics. The first of these villains, Anton Mogart, has already been introduced in Moon Knight, played by Gaspard Ulliel. The second, Mogart's son, proves more prominent, taking his father's villainy to new heights of insanity as he vows to destroy Moon Knight's life.

While Marvel Studios seemed to have had plans for Mogart's future in Moon Knight, Ulliel's tragic passing due to a skiing accident earlier this year makes this an unlikely path forward. More likely, however, is the possibility of Mogart's son, Jeffrey Wilde, being introduced as the next major villain that Marc Spector must face.

Dracula

Marvel Comics Dracula

Dracula is the powerful vampire of legend, based on the classic novel written by Brahm Stoker. In Marvel Comics, the character is a frequent antagonist to Blade but has also been associated with Moon Knight, primarily through a series of popular memes depicting the superhero and the villain in the midst of a debt collection disagreement.

At the announcement of Ethan Hawke's casting in the first season of Moon Knightmany fans theorized that his character of Arthur Harrow would turn out to be Dracula. Since this theory was ultimately proven false, it could hint at the possibility that the creative team sought to save the iconic villain for a future season.

Sun King

Marvel Comics Sun King staring ahead, fire in palm; attacking Moon Knight

The Sun King is yet another Marvel character serving a patron god, in this case, the sun god Ra. As an avatar of Ra, the Sun King has command over fire and fosters a deep loathing for anything associated with Khonshu, who is Ra's son in Egyptian mythology. As such, the Sun King and Moon Knight find themselves at odds often, as just the lastest warriors in an eternal feud between deities.

Sun King is a relatively new villain in Marvel Comics lore, which would allow Marvel Studios greater creative freedom over the character's potential live-action adaptation. He is also presented as an individual with a similar disorder to Marc Spector's, which pushes the hero to come to a better understanding of his own struggles. Such a storyline could prove to be the perfect thematic followup to what the Disney+ series has presented in its first six episodes.

Khonshu

Khnonshu in Moon Knight

Khonshu is the patron deity of Marc Spector who saved him from death after he was shot and left behind by his mercenary partner, Raoul Bushman. He gives Marc his powers as Moon Knight, but is also responsible for worsening the condition of his fractured mind, as the Egyptian god of the moon uses the broken man for his own purposes.

While Khonshu and Marc Spector have always had a tenuous relationship in the comics, they have typically remained allies, though often doing so begrudgingly. However, more recent comics have taken the liberty of presenting Khonshu in a more antagonistic light, including a run in a recent Avengers title that featured the god using Moon Knight to aid him in taking over the world, defeating some of the most powerful Avengers along the way. Such a storyline could be the perfect way to showcase Khonshu's more malevolent side, perhaps even pitting his own Fist against him.
