A new Moon Knight TV spot features a Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter egg that helps fix the show in the MCU timeline. The last year has seen the Marvel Cinematic Universe continue to expand through a series of Disney+ TV shows. The first wave of these took advantage of the shared universe model, spinning directly out of the events of Avengers: EndgameWandaVision explored Scarlet Witch's grief after Vision's death, Loki focused on a variant of the trickster god created by the Avengers' time travel, The Falcon & the Winter Soldier saw Sam Wilson decide to accept the mantle of Captain America, and Hawkeye dealt with the repercussions of Clint Barton's stint as Ronin.

But Moon Knight promises to be different. According to producer Grant Curtins, Moon Knight doesn't depend on Phase 4 continuity to tell its story; rather, he's compared it to 2008's Iron Man as a self-contained narrative. Trailers have subtly hinted at this point, because there's been an absolute dearth of Easter eggs to discuss. Instead, they've focused more on the story of Marc Spector, his Dissociative Identity Disorder, and a brutal tone and style that seems equally unusual for the MCU. Finally, though, the latest Moon Knight TV spot drops a hint as to where the show fits into the MCU timeline.

Marvel Studios' new Moon Knight TV spot, "Secret Agent," features a shot of Moon Knight stood in front of a London double-decker bus. The poster on the side is advertising the Global Repatriation Council, formed to deal with the Blip. When the Hulk used the Infinity Gauntlet to reverse Thanos' snap, it meant half the world's population suddenly blipped back into existence. The result was an unprecedented refugee crisis, with the GRC formed to try to return people to their countries of origin. This is the first recognizable MCU Easter egg seen in Moon Knight, and it seems to indicate the show's place in the MCU timeline.

Moon Knight Falcon and Winter Soldier GRC Easter Egg

This certainly confirms Moon Knight takes place post-Avengers: Endgame. It's important to note, though, that it doesn't necessarily indicate the show is concurrent with Falcon & Winter Soldier; the refugee crisis would have continued for months, if not years, although it's notable it seemed to have been resolved by the time of Spider-Man: Far From Home, eight months after the Hulk snapped his fingers. In any case, in the real world, Transport for London doesn't always get posters taken off their busses particularly quickly; it's not uncommon for them to be advertising movies that were released months ago. So the poster can only really be said to provide a very weak indicator of Moon Knight's place in the MCU timeline.

This does, however, confirm the MCU is continuing to advance. With the exception of the oddly-timed prequel movie Black Widow, Phase 4 has been all about continuing and expanding upon the past, moving on into the post-Avengers: Endgame future. This latest Disney+ TV show is no exception, and there have been hints Moon Knight will join the Avengers as Phase 4 continues into Phase 5. That's become a little more likely given Moon Knight's place in the MCU timeline, confirmed by this unexpected Falcon & Winter Soldier Easter egg.
