Moon Knight star May Calamawy explained that she revealed spoilers for the new MCU show to her 5-year-old nephew. The series premiered on Disney+ to mostly positive reviews from critics, with near-universal praise given to the show's lead, Oscar Isaac, for his portrayal of a person who lives with dissociative identity disorder (DID), a complex psychological condition that can cause people to have multiple, distinct identities. Recently, Calamawy also applauded her co-star for his work, citing Isaac's devotion to the character.

The new MCU series centers on Marc Spector (Oscar Isaac), a former U.S. Marine turned mercenary for hire who, as a result of his DID, has multiple identities. After being given powers by the Egyptian god Khonshu (F. Murray Abraham), Spector will discover the truth about his multiple lives and take on the religious zealot Arthur Harrow (Ethan Hawke). Egyptian-Palestinian actor Calamawy plays Layla El-Faouly, an archeologist and adventurer from Spector's mysterious past. In the first episode, Layla attempts to call Spector but ends up talking to Steven Grant, a fumbling museum gift shop clerk, and also one of Spector's peculiar personalities.

In a recent Screen Rant interview, Moon Knight star Calamawy confesses that she revealed spoilers from the show to her 5-year-old nephew. When asked about her ability to keep Marvel secrets in comparison to the notoriously loose-lipped Tom Holland -- who has repeatedly spoiled major details from his films -- Calamawy responded positively. Check out what the actor had to say below.

"I think I'm pretty good. I told my 5-year-old nephew [some things]. He's a huge Marvel fan. He asked me some stuff about the show, and I told him. Then he went and told my brother, and my brother was really annoyed at me. I was like, 'Why did I expect so much from a 5-year-old?' After that, I was like, 'It's just more fun.' It's because I know it's in service of the other person not to know that it's easy to keep it."

Although revealing spoilers in an MCU project is frowned upon due to the secrecy behind each project and its potential to spoil upcoming MCU media, it has been reported that Moon Knight has been designed to have little to do with the overall cinematic universe. Recently, the producers of the show explained that instead of using screen-time to connect to other MCU stories and build upon the ever-growing lore, they chose to focus on Spector's character and his personal journey within the scope of the series. They wanted to create the best character study possible with little distraction from the vast franchise mythology.

Actors working in MCU projects are famously required to sign extensive non-disclosure agreements. Although threatened by legal ramifications, actors have periodically revealed major story details to the public. During a press tour for Avengers: Infinity War, Hulk actor Mark Ruffalo revealed that most of the heroes die in the film. Captain America: Winter Soldier star Frank Grillo blurted out during an interview that he was returning to his role in Avengers: Endgame, effectively spoiling the time-travel plot element used in the film. On the flip-side, Spider-Man actor Andrew Garfield did well when he denied his involvement with Spider-Man: No Way Home despite a leaked video that prominently featured the British actor in his Spider-Man suit. Calamawy will most likely have nothing to worry about unless her 5-year-old nephew has a Twitter account. Moon Knight is currently streaming on Disney+.
