Moon Knight's Ethan Hawke reveals how his teenage daughter reacted to seeing the MCU show's first trailer. After being first announced in 2019, Moon Knight's first episode is now streaming on Disney+. It stars Oscar Isaac as mild-mannered gift shop employee Steven Grant, who is unaware of his alternate personas, including Marc Spector—a mercenary who made a life-saving pact with the Egyptian moon god Khonshu. Jeremy Slater serves as showrunner/head writer of the six-episode series, which is directed by Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab's team, including Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead. In addition to Isaac, the cast includes Lucy Thackeray, May Calamawy, the late Gaspard Ulliel as Anton Mogart/Midnight Man, and Hawke.

After years of dominating the silver screen outside of the comic book genre, Hawke has finally joined the MCU with Moon Knight. He plays the series' primary antagonist, cult leader Arthur Harrow, who serves the Egyptian goddess Ammit as opposed to Khonshu. Before the first episode, Hawke's character was surrounded by mystery and speculation as a result of Moon Knight's record-breaking trailer. Now, Hawke has shared his daughter's reaction to that first trailer.

In a recent interview with People, Hawke revealed how impressed his daughter was seeing Moon Knight's trailer. Hawke has four children, including Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), and his 13-year-old daughter, Clementine Hawke, has finally acknowledged him as an actor. Read the full quote below:

“Well, I’ll tell you this. I have a 13-year-old, and she saw the Moon Knight trailer and she was like...I mean all of a sudden, my being an actor was real to her. She watched it on her phone and was like, ‘Dad, this looks really good.’ I mean her eyes just went—she couldn’t believe it. ‘That’s what the kids at school are talking about.’”

Throughout 27 films, beginning with 2008's Iron Man, Marvel Studios has developed the most profitable, popular, and expansive franchises in the history of entertainment. Its roster has expanded to the small screen with shows like WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?, Hawkeye, and, now, Moon Knight. Unlike its predecessors on Disney+, Moon Knight introduces completely new characters that aren't reliant on the established MCU. Still, if Clementine's reaction is any indication, Kevin Feige and company know what they're doing. MCU projects continue to attract top-tier talent like Hawke and give them the creative freedom needed to succeed.

Hawke has brought his astute character work to the series, as seen in his very first scene—where Harrow is shown putting broken glass in his shoes, an idea the actor came up with himself. While promoting Moon Knight, Hawke also revealed the advice given to him by his other daughter, Maya, about the Marvel fandom. She told him to respect the fandom's passion and give them something that's worth it. So far, Hawke appears to be doing just that. Moon Knight currently has an 87% critics score and a 94% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and has the highest rated MCU pilot on IMDb thus far. The next episode on Moon Knight drops on Disney+ on April 6.
