Oscar Isaac is only reportedly contracted for Moon Knight and no further MCU appearances as of right now. Moon Knight finally premiered on Disney+ on March 30, 2022, and sees Isaac play the titular character and his various personalities, including mercenary Marc Spector and gift shop worker Steven Grant. The series is set to run six episodes and will wrap up its story on May 4, 2022.

The introduction of Moon Knight to the MCU had audiences excited for the possible future, as the Disney+ series is just the beginning of his story with plenty of potential for the character in the MCU. The upcoming Halloween special Marvel Studios is working on is believed to be Werewolf by Night, which is where Moon Knight made his first appearance. With the addition of Blade into the MCU, it seems like Marvel Studios is setting up Moon Knight to be a big player in the franchise moving forward.

However, it doesn't appear so clean-cut as Variety reports that Isaac is not contractually obliged to return to the MCU after Moon Knight ends its six-episode run as that was all he signed on for. Isaac admits he was hesitant about the idea of a long-term contract, but he and Marvel came to an understanding and agreement to put the focus on the show first. He appears to be open to returning as the character, saying there are plenty of stories to tell with him. Isaac said:

"I had heard of the golden handcuffs. That was something that I was reticent about. And luckily, we all agreed that this [show] is what we’re going to focus on. This is the story. And if there’s any kind of future, I think it just depends on if people like it, if people want to see more, and if we find a story that’s worth telling.”

While this news may come as a shock to some, since it would seem Moon Knight has a big future in the MCU, it is not entirely out of nowhere. In July 2021, it was reported that Marvel Studios no longer has stars sign long-term contracts as they did when they first started out. Chris Evans almost turned down the role of Captain America because of the massive commitment the contract required. The rationale now is to have actors come in and become excited about returning to the MCU as opposed to feeling like they are contractually obligated to, and it appears that method has worked for Isaac as the actor has spoken positively about how Marvel Studios was open to many of his ideas for the characters.

It is more than likely Isaac will reprise his role as Moon Knight in a future Marvel Studios project with how popular the character is already and because Marvel will likely have great success teaming him up with various other MCU characters. Isaac himself has teased wanting Moon Knight to team up with Daredevil, Ghost Rider, and The Punisher. With how successful the MCU is, the studio and parent company, Disney, is likely more than willing to meet the actor's salary when it needs to be renegotiated to reprise the role of Moon Knight. Where the character will appear next, though, remains a mystery, but it is more than safe to say Moon Knight will return.
