In a new preview for Marvel Comics' upcoming Moon Knight series, Marc Spector hunts down and slaughters vampires trespassing in his neighborhood. While Khonshu the Moon God may be imprisoned after he tried to take over the world, that apparently isn't stopping Moon Knight from seeking justice and protecting the innocent. However, one has to wonder if this new series is taking some inspiration from the ever-popular Moon Knight internet memes, potentially leading to Moon Knight having a real showdown with Dracula (the big f---ing nerd).

Recently in Marvel Comics, Khonshu the Moon God had visions of an attack by the demon lord Mephisto. In preparation, he instructed his Fist to steal the primordial powers of the Avengers so that he could wield them all simultaneously against the demon lord from Hell. Khonshu then took over New York (renaming it New Thebes) in order to prepare for Mephisto's assault in the Age of Khonshu. However, the Avengers rallied together against Khonshu and defeated him after they took their powers back, and Moon Knight himself turned against his god. While Khonshu is now imprisoned, it looks like Moon Knight will still be looking to operate as a brutally savage vigilante.

  • I AM MOON KNIGHT!
  • The mysterious Mr. Knight has opened his Midnight Mission, his people petitioning for protection from the weird and horrible. The Moon Knight stalks the rooftops and alleys marked with his crescent moon tag, bringing violence to any who would harm his people. Marc Spector, in whichever guise he dons, is back on the streets, a renegade priest of an unworthy god. But while Khonshu languishes in a prison that Moon Knight put him in, Moon Knight must still observe his duty: protecting those who travel at night.Let it be known - Moon Knight will keep the faith.

Without a doubt, this new preview shows just how brutal Moon Kight can be, completely slaughtering the vampires who were stupid enough to come onto his turf and threaten his people. Not only that, but the synopsis reveals his new epic status as "a renegade priest of an unworthy god" due to the aftermath of The Age of Khonshu. However, the presence of vampires is interesting, especially considering writer Jed MacKay's recent and hilarious post on Twitter:

While some might not know, Moon Knight has never really interacted on any significant level with Dracula in Marvel Comics, save for in these persistently trending memes. Could this be Mackay teasing that Moon Knight will finally have an actual showdown with the leader of the Vampire Nation? Since many fans clearly love it, it would be impressive that a random meme was able to generate an actual canon response. In any case, Marvel's Moon Knight is definitely going to be must-read series when it releases this July.
