At Comic-Con@Home, Oscar Isaac teased in a new video that Marvel Studios' upcoming Moon Knight series will be wild, and it will likely be quite different from the MCU series seen on Disney+ thus far. Starring Isaac in the titular role, Moon Knight will be Marc Spector's debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, introducing a dark vigilante wearing all white who claims to be the chosen Fist of an Egyptian moon god. Not only that, but Spector's dissociative identity disorder will likely result in an introspective and dynamic character study the likes of which the MCU has yet to see. Combined with Moon Knight's classic brutality as he seeks justice and vengeance, Moon Knight is definitely primed to be quite the unique and wild MCU series.

Created by Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin for Marvel Comics in 1975, Marc Spector was a former CIA operative and mercenary who had a near-death experience at an archaeological dig. It was there that he allegedly communed with the Egyptian Moon God Khonshu, who offered Spector a second chance at life provided he enter the god's service as his Fist and high-priest. Spector agreed, and he was then resurrected as Moon Knight. Spector would then invest his impressive funds from his mercenary work into a crusade as a vengeful crimefighter, somewhat resembling an MCU version of DC's Batman with the various gadgets he implemented. However, Spector's disorder led to him having separate identities to help him in his new work, such as the millionaire Steven Grant and Jack Lockley who operated as a contact within the criminal underworld. Furthermore, his disorder created doubts about his sanity, and it was a long time before Moon Knight's history with Khonshu was believed by the majority of the superhero community within Marvel Comics.

Now, Marvel Studios' Moon Knight will be coming from showrunner Jeremy Slater starring Oscar Isaac as the titular Marc Spector and Moon Knight, and he will be playing opposite Ethan Hawke's unknown villain in Moon Knight. While Isaac described Moon Knight as a "wild, wild show" in a behind-the-scenes video released during Comic-Con, Moon Knight's own origins already confirm as much. Furthermore, it seems as though the series will be much different in tone than in the prior Disney+ shows seen so far such as WandaVisionThe Falcon & The Winter Soldier, and most recently Loki. While all of those series continued the stories of pre-existing characters in the MCU, Moon Knight will be introducing a brand new hero who is traditionally much darker than has been seen, as well as possessing an incredibly unique inner struggle no other hero has in any past or upcoming Disney+ show.

Combined with his own internal struggles of identity, Marc Spector operates as a brutal vigilante who rarely exhibits restraint or mercy, beating criminals within inches of their lives. Not only that, but Moon Knight often finds himself resisting Khonshu, leading to an added dynamic where he's at odds with the god he serves. Clearly, a lot is going on for such a complex and hardcore character such as Moon Knight, not to mention the fact that the reason he wears white is so the bad guys know he's coming. As a result, it's going to be really interesting to see him face off with Ethan Hawke's main villain in a truly brutal fashion for the MCU.

All in all, Marvel's upcoming Moon Knight should prove to be a wild show indeed. It will also be quite different than the MCU fare fans have seen so far on Disney+, provided the show honors the source material of the comics (which Marvel Studios no doubt will). Given his unique dynamics and complexities, Marc Spector is so much more than just Marvel's version of Batman. As such, viewers should definitely expect Moon Knight to deliver on Oscar Isaac's Comic-C0n comments.
