Khonshu, the source of Moon Knight's power, could have a connection to Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Starring Oscar Isaac as the MCU's next superhero, Moon Knight is one of the most promising MCU TV shows since WandaVision. The trailers for Moon Knight have been dark and brutal, stylistically different to anything seen in the mainstream MCU to date, and - remarkably - they haven't even hinted at the show's wider connection to the shared universe.

There will surely be connections of some kind, of course, simply because the MCU sells itself on the idea everything happens in a single universe - and crossovers and cameos seem to be becoming the mainstay in Phase 4, emphasizing that point. Marvel's recent Disney+ TV shows have attempted to synergize with the latest film releases, with Hawkeye bringing back Vincent D'Onofrio as the MCU's official Kingpin right around the same time Spider-Man: No Way Home brought back Charlie Cox's Daredevil. That means it's surely significant that there will be an overlap between Moon Knight's Disney+ release and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Both Moon Knight and Doctor Strange are associated with the supernatural corner of the MCU, so it would make perfect sense for them to be connected.

The connection could be through Khonshu, the Egyptian Moon God who granted Moon Knight his powers in the comics - and has even been teased in trailers for the Disney+ TV show. In the comics, Khonshu's origin is mysterious but he has been hinted at being one of the Elder Gods who ruled Earth in prehistoric times. The MCU has already begun setting up the Elder Gods; WandaVision introduced the ancient book of dark magic called the Darkhold, created by one of the Elder Gods called Chthon, and another named Shuma-Gorath has been seen in Marvel's What If...? and set up for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness - renamed Gargantos, because Marvel don't own the license to use the name Shuma-Gorath. It's reasonable to assume at least one of these Elder Gods is a major (perhaps the main) villain in the Doctor Strange sequel.

Interestingly, in the comics Khonshu is not the only Egyptian deity who is actually one of the Elder Gods; Oshtur, sometimes known as Ma'at, is one of them as well. A benevolent goddess, she became one of the Vishanti who bless the line of the Sorcerers Supreme. There have been longstanding rumors the Book of the Vishanti will be introduced in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, which raises the possibility Oshtur and her fellow Vishanti will appear as well.

All this means the time is ripe for Khonshu to appear in the MCU. Indeed, it's even possible he is only able to enter this plane of existence and bond with Moon Knight because the multiverse is fragmenting. Khonshu has sometimes been portrayed as a force for good, and sometimes for evil, meaning he could either be choosing to take the opportunity to invade - or he could have chosen a Moon Knight to help protect the Earth from his kith and kin. The possible connections between Moon Knight and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness have tremendous potential.
