Warning: spoilers ahead for Moon Knight #10

In the latest issue of Marvel Comics' Moon Knight, Marc Spector's brutality reaches a new level of creativity, as he punishes an unkillable foe with a fate far worse than death. Discovering that his therapist isn't who she says she is, Moon Knight battles with the Waxman - a shapeshifting villain who has taken her place. However, Moon Knight has Waxman's number, using a jet-black method to take him down.

Previously in Moon Knight from writer Jed MacKay and Allessandro Cappuccio, Moon Knight has been at war with Zodiac, a villain who hopes to awaken Marc Spector's dark side. While Marc has new allies such as the other Fist of Khnoshu known as the Hunter's Moon and his vampire assistant Reese, it appears as though Zodiac has friends of his own. Now, the new Moon Knight #10 reveals that one such friend has been posing as Moon Knight's Avengers-assigned therapist, Dr. Andrea Sterman.

In truth, Moon Knight #10 reveals that Sterman has actually been replaced by the Waxman for quite some time, who's been working with Zodiac. It isn't until Moon Knight is attacked by a former patient of Sterman's that he's able to learn the truth. As such, Waxman is caught in the act in this issue, revealing his more monstrous form. However, Moon Knight is prepared for Waxman, freezing him with liquid nitrogen. He then locks the unkillable villain inside a seamless steel ball with some incredibly dark (yet undeniably creative) intentions.

Even when faced with a foe who can't be killed, Moon Knight still manages to come out on top. While trapping Waxman is hardcore enough, Moon Knight goes even darker by going through with his threat even after Waxman tells Marc what he knows. Moon Knight confirms that he can't allow Waxman to go free given his status as a serial killer, having murdered several women within the last few weeks. It also doesn't help that Marc likely feels exposed and massively angered given how open he's been with the villain who he thought was his therapist.

Throughout the series, Moon Knight has repeatedly warned foes that he's not a superhero, and in this issue, fans see exactly what that means. While Marc is keen not to return to his blood-drenched past, when his tactics made him famous for removing the face of his nemesis, it turns out that even working non-lethally, Moon Knight is more terrifying than pretty much any other Marvel hero. As Waxman learns too late, Moon Knight operates on a mythic plane of justice, and he's prepared to deal out punishments no other hero would even consider. Unfortunately, this is exactly the side of Marc Zodiac intends to awake.

Promising blood, Moon Knight is preparing to become even more brutal now that he knows the real Sterman is alive and is being held hostage by Zodiac. Ending Waxman with a fate worse than death is also a pretty big way to prove just how serious he is. Moon Knight #10 is available now from Marvel Comics.
