Spoiler Warning: This article contains spoilers for the season finale of Moon Knight.

The first season of Disney+'s Moon Knight has introduced a wide array of new characters to the fold of the larger Marvel Cinematic Universe, tying together new stories and mythologies to expand on a franchise that is already larger than any other ever produced in Hollywood.

While all of these characters are intriguing personalities in their own distinct ways, each varies in the inspection of likability, with many falling short when it comes to such a virtue. Nonetheless, certain characters prove to become fan-favorites based on their gregarious personalities.

Ammit

Steve-Grant-Finds-Ammits-Ushabti-In-Moon-Knight-Episode-4

Ammit is the Egyptian goddess of judgment whom Ethan Hawke's Arthur Harrow attempts to resurrect over the course of the series. Ammit is revealed to have acted as the patron deity to several characters, including Alexander the Great himself, all in an effort to reap her own brand of justice across the oceans of time.

Ammit is a particularly bloodthirsty deity, obsessed with stealing the responsibility of eternal judgment from those to whom it actually belongs. She routinely manipulates and hijacks innocent minds, proceeding to murder civilians for crimes they may commit in the future, making her not only one of the most malevolent characters in the series but in the MCU as a whole.

Wendy Spector

Wendy Spector is the mother of Marc, who grows abusive after the death of Marc's brother, Randall. As hinted at throughout the series, she had very little to do with Marc after he left home to join the army, later passing away shortly before the events of the first episode, without having ever restored her relationship with her estranged son.

Wendy is a particularly difficult character to like, even if the audience can have some sympathy for her grief over her lost son. The woman quickly loses any goodwill toward her, however, as she callously and viciously abuses her own surviving child as a means of letting out her grief. Wendy immediately devolves into one of the worst parents depicted in the franchise, with her actions becoming a major part in Marc developing his Dissociative Identity Disorder.

Anton Mogart

Gaspard Ulliel as Anton Midnight Man in Moon Knight

Anton Mogart is a high-profile art curator with ties to illegal organizations in Egypt. Played by the late Gaspard Ulliel, the character is based on the Midnight Man antagonist from the comics, whose legacy comes back in droves to wreak havoc on Marc Spector's life.

Mogart has very little screentime in Moon Knight, as his character was likely intended to play a greater role in future seasons of the show before the actor's tragic death. Nonetheless, the character himself is not designed to be particularly likable, as he operates in unsavory circles and overall has a general aura of perceived superiority.

Jake Lockley

Moon Knight Ending Explained Jake Lockley Post Credits

Jake Lockley is the secret third alternate personality of Marc Spector, who is revealed in the season finale. Lockley is a personality developed somewhat later in Marc's life, later emerging only when absolutely necessary to keep the other alters alive.

Lockley has very little screentime compared to Marc and Steven, as he is only revealed in the season's final episode. Nevertheless, the character still has many of the more amicable traits of his other alters, though his more bloodthirsty methods of crimefighting make him a more dangerous personality than the others.

Khonshu

Khonshu standing behind Marc in Moon Knight.

Khonshu, portrayed by acclaimed actor F. Murray Abraham, is the patron deity of Moon Knight, who acts as his Fist throughout time. Khonshu is the Egyptian god of the moon and of true justice, who uses Marc Spector's broken mind to manipulate him into performing his bidding.

Though Khonshu is ultimately an ally of mankind in the battle against Ammit, he routinely showcases his own selfishness in the way that he deals with Marc. The moon god is clearly aware of just how fragile Marc's mind is. Instead of aiding the broken man at his lowest moment, he chooses to take advantage of him for his own gain. This sets off the tenuous relationship that the two would later have.

Arthur Harrow

Ethan Hawke as Arthur in Moon Knight

Ethan Hawke portrays Arthur Harrow, the former Fist of Khonshu that has betrayed the moon god in favor of serving Ammit in a bid to resurrect the latent goddess and wreak what he deems to be "justice" on the world. The character comes to be sharply at odds with Moon Knight, setting him up as the main antagonist of the first season of this series.

Throughout the course of the series, Harrow shows himself capable of performing several dastardly deeds, proving his true villainy despite his claims of virtue and piety. Nonetheless, Hawke's portrayal still comes off as bizarrely personable, explaining how so many people could be duped into following the character.

Marc Spector

Oscar Isaac as Marc Spector in Moon Knight episode 4

Marc Spector is the original personality among several alternate selves within one body. Played by Oscar Isaac, Spector is a former mercenary that, after being left for dead by his conniving partner, is embued with the power of Khonshu to serve as his Fist, the terrifying Moon Knight.

Marc is a complicated individual, who is both incredibly sensitive and guilty of several horrible crimes. As the season progresses, however, the audience learns of the circumstances in his life that led to his current struggles, justifying him as a sympathetic character. He also grows to better understand himself as he gets to know his alternate personality of Steven Grant better, creating one of Moon Knight's most intriguing relationships.

Layla El-Faouly

Layla looking angry in Moon Knight.

Layla El-Faouly, played by May Calamawy, is the wife of Marc Spector who tracks him down after his Steven Grant personality has taken over control of his body for an extended time. Loosely based on the Marlene Alraune character from the comics, she later learns that Marc was present at the murder of her father at his archaeological dig site. Layla joins Marc and Steven on their adventures to Egypt, uncovering the long-lost tomb of Alexander the Great.

Layla is presented as a capable and intriguing character in her own right, one that even Khonshu deems to be worthy of being his next Avatar. Her scenes with Steven make her particularly endearing to the audience, as she is reminded of the better parts of her relationship with Marc. Additionally, the character's refusal to acquiesce in the face of overwhelming odds, even without the powers of a superhero, makes her a worthwhile character for audiences to attach themselves to.

Tawaret

Tawaret in Moon Knight

Tawaret is the Egyptian goddess of fertility and childbirth, typically depicted as an anthropomorphic hippopotamus. She reveals herself to Marc and Steven in one of the season's most unexpected moments, becoming their guide to the Field of Reeds after they are shot by Arthur Harrow.

Tawaret was an unexpected fan favorite from the final few episodes of the season, whose soft and endearing personality is in sharp contrast to her otherwise imposing appearance. Aided by the personable performance of voice actress Antonia Salib, the goddess of fertility proves to be one of the more memorable and beloved characters from Moon Knight's first season.

Steven Grant

A terrified Steven Grant looking up at the approaching Khonshu in Moon Knight

Steven Grant is the first alternate personality that Marc develops as a result of his trauma due to his mother's abuse. Loosely based on the adventurer Dr. Steven Grant from Marc's favorite childhood movie, Steven becomes his escape from a world that so often seems overwhelming to him.

Steven may not be the original personality of Oscar Isaac's character, but he is by far the most endearing. Though he may not be the bravest character at the outset of the series, he grows in his heroism as he learns more about his past and forges a bond with Marc. Steven is presented as being incredibly kind and generous, even when horribly mistreated by others, living up to his purpose as Marc's "better side."
