Warning! Spoilers for Moon Knight #6 by Marvel Comics

Even years after he committed his most violent act to date, Moon Knight is still readily reminded of his most gruesome kill ever. In a brand new preview for Moon Knight #6, the titular hero faces off against Zodiac, who he promises to kill. The villain taunts him as he is on his hands and knees, asking Moon Knight if he wants to cut off his face, referencing his deadliest kill versus Bushman.

Few kills in Marvel Comics history are more gruesome than Moon Knight cutting off Bushman's face. In Moon Knight #2 by Charlie Huston, David Finch, Danny Miki, Frank D'Armata, and VC's Joe Caramgna from 2006, a flashback features the Marvel Comics hero taking on his biggest villain, Bushman. However, as Bushman tries to kill him, Moon Knight uses one of his crescent darts to knock his opponent down. Moon Knight proceeds to carve off his face - in a highly graphic and violent scene. The comic moment is so dark, it's unlikely to appear in the Marvel Cinematic Universe's adaptation of the hero.

In a brand new preview for Moon Knight #6 by Jed MacKay, Alessandro Cappuccio, Rachelle Rosenberg, and Cory Petit, the antihero faces off against a surprise face, the villain Zodiac. In the last issue, Zodiac was revealed to be Moon Knight's secret nemesis and ended up setting off a bomb in the Midnight Mission. As Moon Knight's home base goes up in flames, he spars with the masked villain - who taunts him as he lays injured on the ground.

Zodiac asks Moon Knight if he wants to hurt him and if he wants to "cut my face off?" Zodiac is referencing one of the antihero's most unhinged moments. It's not the first time the brutal Bushman murder has been mentioned in the new series. It still scares Moon Knight's villains - and for a good reason.

Moon Knight Kill

When Moon Knight asks Zodiac whether he's going to kill him, the villain tells him he doesn't want to end his life but that he wants to "break" him. He tells Moon Knight he's got so much potential but that he's "addicted to the stink" of his own hypocrisy.

While other villains are still intimidated by Moon Knight's most gruesome kill, Zodiac using it to taunt him is downright terrifying. Zodiac has something big planned and wants to break Moon Knight, not kill him. Readers can learn more about Zodiac's plans for Moon Knight when Moon Knight #6 by Marvel Comics comes to comic book stores on Wednesday.
