Warning: SPOILERS lie ahead for Moon Knight

Moon Knight star May Calamawy says she is still hopeful for a Blade crossover in her Marvel Cinematic Universe future after the show's finale. Calamawy starred in the series as Layla El-Faouly, an archaeologist and the estranged wife of Marc Spector who comes back into his life and learns of his living with dissociative identity disorder and that Steven Grant has been in control for some time following the death of their mom. Moon Knight saw Layla embark on a journey with Marc and Steven to discover Ammit's tomb and stop Arthur Harrow from releasing the Egyptian god and killing the world, ultimately becoming the human conduit for the Egyptian goddess Taweret and the hero known as the Scarlet Scarab.

Alongside Calamawy, the cast for Moon Knight included Oscar Isaac as the titular hero, Ethan Hawke as Harrow, F. Murray Abraham as the voice of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu and Khalid Abdalla. Developed by Jeremy Slater and primarily directed by Mohamed Diab, the MCU series received generally positive reviews from critics and audiences alike for its darker tone, more independent storytelling and the performances from its cast, namely Isaac and Hawke. With Moon Knight now at a close, audiences are already wondering where the various new characters could go next in the MCU and one star is really hopeful for a key crossover.

On the heels of the show's finale, May Calamawy caught up with Inverse to break down Moon Knight. In looking at her MCU future, the confirmed she doesn't know of any future plans for her character, but says she is still hopeful for a Blade crossover for one key reason. See what Calamawy shared below:

"There has been nothing yet that I know of what could happen with Scarlet Scarab. But I love Dr. Strange, that would be cool. Blade would be cool because I've worked with Mahershala Ali and I think he's so wonderful. And then, I love all the women. I love Agatha. I feel like in the beginning, I used to love anyone that was kind of a villain like Nebula. I found them so complex. But honestly, it really depends on the story. I kind of want to be with all of them."

As she notes, Calamawy and Mahershala Ali have previously worked together on the hit Hulu comedy series Ramy, in which the Moon Knight star portrays the titular character's sister and the new Blade actor stars in season 2 as a Sheikh who takes Ramy under his wing in his religious journey. Many MCU fans theorized that Moon Knight would be the first major reveal of Ali's Blade after his brief introduction in the post-credits of Eternals, namely as the two heroes have worked together in the comics often as members of the Midnight Sons. Given the MCU has also already introduced or gearing up to introduce a number of other Sons members, including Doctor Strange, Iron Fist and Werewolf by Night, the chances of Ali's Blade appearing did seem high.

Calamaway's hopes for a Blade crossover after the Moon Knight finale comes after both director Mohamed Diab and head writer Jeremy Slater revealed that two major MCU cameos were ultimately cut from the series finale, including characters from Eternals. While some may have found themselves disappointed at the lack of Ali's Blade appearing in the show, many have ultimately praised the cameos being cut as it helped keep the story properly isolated and focused on its titular character's development instead of shoehorning excessive connections. Audiences can catch up with the entirety of Moon Knight streaming on Disney+ now.
