Warning! Contains a first look at Moon Knight #14

In a new preview for Marvel Comics' upcoming August titles, it's been revealed that Moon Knight's alternate identities will be making a dramatic return to the Marvel Universe. Following their collective MCU debut, it looks like Moon Knight's comics counterpart is looking to follow suit with the reintroduction of Steven Grant and Jake Lockley, the alters who share Marc Spector's body. While they haven't been featured thus far in Marvel's current Moon Knight series, it seems that will soon change.

While Moon Knight lived a long time with Dissociative Identity Disorder where his different alternate identities took over at various times, Marc Spector eventually reconciled with his alters in 2017, embracing who they all were and gaining more control over his life than ever before. This led to Steven and Jake being largely absent in subsequent arcs such as The Serpent War and the Age of Khonshu where Moon Knight became the Phoenix, as well as the current Moon Knight series from Jed MacKay and Alessandro Cappuccio.

However, Marvel's solicitations for August posted by AIPT have revealed that Steven and Jake will soon be making a return with Moon Knight #14. Taking place following Marc's current battle with the villain known as Zodiac, it looks as though Moon Knight's mind will become a warzone. As evidenced by artist Stephen Segovia's cover for the issue, Marc, Steven, Jake, Moon Knight, and Mr. Knight will all be present as Marc's mind seemingly becomes unbalanced once magain. Here's the cover and solicitation info for the upcoming issue of Moon Knight:

The scars of Zodiac’s attack linger with the faithful of the Midnight Mission, but that doesn’t stop Moon Knight from picking an entirely new fight. A new arc begins as Moon Knight goes to war with the vampires of the Structure, but he finds it a battle on two fronts – one on the midnight streets, and the other within his own mind!

32 PGS./Rated T+ …$3.99

It should be noted that the MCU made things more streamlined when it comes to Marc's alters. Moon Knight was simply the suit worn by Marc while Mr. Knight was the suit worn by Steven. While Jake was teased at the end of the Disney+ series, a subsequent suit wasn't revealed. That being said, the comics' Moon Knight and Mr. Knight are more like alters in and of themselves. However, the comics have been known to make retcons to create better synergy with the MCU, a prime example being Shang-Chi recently gaining the Ten Rings.

Considering the return of Steven and Jake, it's possible Moon Knight could receive a mental restructuring that's more in line with the MCU. If Moon Knight becomes directly tied to Marc and Mr. Knight with Steven, perhaps a new costume/identity will debut for Jake. Either way, fans will soon learn more about why Marc's alters are returning when the new Moon Knight #14 releases this August.
