A brand-new image from Disney+’s Monsters, Inc. spinoff series Monsters At Work has been released. Monsters Inc. is one of Pixar’s most beloved movies and was one of the first-ever films to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature when the category was introduced twenty years ago. The friendship between scarers Sulley (John Goodman) and Mike (Billy Crystal) as they try to return little girl Boo to the human world is the heart of Monsters, Inc.’s success and has become legendary – the origins of their friendship inspired Pixar’s only prequel, Monsters University, which released back in 2013.

In 2019, Disney announced they were expanding the Monsters, Inc. universe in the form of a spin-off series titled Monsters At Work. The show will reportedly take place six months after the events of the original movie, with Monstropolis now powered by laughter instead of screams. Monsters At Work will include both returning and brand-new characters but will mainly focus on a fresh-faced new employee at Monsters, Inc., Tylor Tuskmon (Ben Feldman), who dreams of working with his idols Sulley and Mike. It has faced some delays due to the coronavirus pandemic but is now set to premiere on Disney+ in July.

Now, Disney+ has released a first-look image (via Collider) at the new cast of characters that Monsters At Work will revolve around. It includes Feldman as Tylor, a tall purple monster, and all his new co-workers. They include Henry Winkler as one-eyed monster Fritz, Tylor’s boss, and Mindy Kaling as Val Little, Tylor’s enthusiastic and energetic best friend. The photo also includes the diligent laugh-floor worker Cutter (Alanna Ubach) and the winged, four-eyed Duncan (Lucas Neff). See the new image below:

The new characters will offer an interesting look at how Monsters, Inc. operates at every level, especially as the workers adjust to the factory’s brand-new Laugh Floor. The Monsters, Inc. Facilities Team is sure to put their own unique spin on tropes of the workplace comedy. Monsters At Work will not only see Goodman and Crystal reprise their roles, but will also see Bonnie Hunt return as Ms. Flint, who is now head of recruitment and in charge of training the funniest monsters. Also returning is Jennifer Tilly as Mike’s snake-haired girlfriend Celia Mae and Bob Peterson playing the iconic role of Roz.

Twenty years since the original film came out, Monsters At Work is the spiritual successor to the Monsters, Inc. movie sequel that never happened. Fans will undoubtedly be excited to see classic characters like Mike and Sulley again and the new characters are sure to quickly become fan-favorites too when Monsters At Work premiers this July on Disney+.
