Three new Monsties will soon be added in the next patch among Monster Hunter Stories 2's free updates. In the Monster Hunter Stories series, the player takes on the role of a Rider, who has the ability to rear a Monstie from birth, turning it into a staunch ally and party member.

Unlike the Hunters in the Monster Hunter series, it's the goal of the Rider to befriend monsters rather than just killing them for their hides. Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin gives the player access to a powerful Rathalos, whom the main storyline is focused on, but they still need a group of powerful Monsties on their team. Not only do powerful Monsties give them access to more options in combat, but they also act like the Pokémon series' HM mules by allowing the player to explore more of the environment.

Monster Hunter Stories 2 has gradually been adding new Monsties as part of free post-launch content updates. Capcom has revealed in a trailer on the official Monster Hunter YouTube channel that three new Monsties are on the way as part of Update 3, which will be available to download on September 2, 2021.

While they may not stack up to Monster Hunter Rise's Street Fighter crossover in terms of cool factor, the new Monsties are all unique. The three new creatures that will be available in Update 3 are Soulseer Mitsune, which can devastate a party with a jet of water or crash into foes with a spinning body slam; Elderfrost Gammoth, which can crush enemies beneath the weight of its colossal body; and Oroshi Kirin, which can strike with holy lightning and impale enemies with its horn. Update 3 will also add four new quests to Monster Hunter Stories 2, followed by eight more quests on September 16 - including some new co-op missions.

These won't be the only new Monsties coming to Monster Hunter Stories 2 in the future, as the content roadmap for the game has confirmed that Molten Tigrex and Monster Hunter icon Dreadking Rathalos will be arriving in late September, along with a high-difficulty version of Kulve Taroth. These will be accompanied by a new co-op exclusive Monstie battle in October, along with Monst Silver Rathalos and Gold Rathian. Monster Hunter Stories 2 can be a challenging game, but the player can make things easier for themselves by forming a powerful squad of Monsties, which is what the post-launch content is offering (so long as players are able to sneak into their lairs and steal their eggs).
