Learn how to get an Oroshi Kirin egg in Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin, a Kirin subspecies Monster that utilizes ice attacks instead of the mainline lighting strikes. Oroshi Kirin makes its return from other popular Monster Hunter games like Monster Hunter Stories and Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate. Oroshi Kirin is still an Elder Dragon, making it one of the toughest Monsters to fight in Monster Hunter Stories 2.
Oroshi Kirin is available to fight in the new Monster Hunter Stories 2 quest called "Ice Phantom" located at the Quest Board. This is an eight-star single-player subquest quest, marked by a yellow plus symbol to indicate that it is DLC. Once the quest has been accepted, fast travel to the Catavan Stand near Kuan Village and enter the High Rank Subquest Den. While the new Ice Eggs Co-Op quest was just added to Monster Hunter Stories 2, this Elder Dragon cannot be found as either a Monster to fight or find as an egg. Ice Phantom is the only way to encounter Oroshi Kirin.
Oroshi Kirin is one of the most difficult Monsters to fight in Monster Hunter Stories 2, dealing massive damage throughout the entire fight. Its standard attacks are Speed based, and when it becomes enraged it switched over to Power moves. Monsties that deal Fire elemental damage with Speed and Technical based moves are going to be the most important members of the team. Head over to the nest in the Den to claim the Monster egg once Oroshi Kirin is defeated. Finding an Oroshi Kirin egg in the nest is not guaranteed, but at least repeating the quest provides an opportunity for farming Oroshi Kirin materials.
Monster Hunter Stories 2: How to Get an Oroshi Kirin Egg
As far as Ice monsters go in Monster Hunter Stories 2, Oroshi Kirin may not be the best choice but it remains within the top three and has incredible genes. The unique genes for Oroshi Kirin are:
- Breakthrough Horn – Speed Breaking Gene (L) unlocked at Level 15. Deals heavy non-elemental damage to one enemy. Medium chance to lower defense for three turns.
- Ice Aura – Skillseal Kirin Gene (L) unlocked at Level one. Adds a Skillseal effect to the user's attacks. Lasts for three turns.
- Icicle Terror - Speed Kirin Gene (XL) unlocked at level 40. Deals heavy ice damage to all enemies. High Chance to inflict Skillseal for two turns.
Surprisingly, there are no weapons that can be made out of Oroshi Kirin material. An armor set can be forged called Kirin U Armor+, but its use is incredibly niche. The armor comes Quick, Ice Boost (XL), and Sealbreak (L). Quick and Sealbreaker have nice spots in PvP, but this armor set overall is best served as a counter gear choice.
