One dedicated Monster Hunter: Rise fan is currently making hundreds of the same switch axe in the hopes of a wish being granted. The switch axe is one of 14 types of usable weapons in Monster Hunter: Rise, and this particular switch axe has some unique properties to it.

Weapon designs in Monster Hunter have changed over the course of the series lifespan. Many of the weapon designs take characteristics from the various monster parts used to make the weapon. Some of the weapon designs in Monster Hunter: World, however, weren't received that well, since some of the weapons looked like monster parts slapped onto the basic iron and bone templates. With the exception of the weapons of the returning Monster Hunter: World monsters, Monster Hunter: Rise went back to original weapon designs once more, and one of the new weapons being featured is the Origami Axe.

The description of the Origami Axe states that it is said to "grant a wish if one can somehow collect a thousand of them." With this in mind, user ceph0rend is currently in the process of making a thousand origami axes in the hopes of making a wish come true. They have been doing this by repeatedly farming monsters such as Aknosom and Almudron for the require materials, and they're currently past the 200 mark. The journey to a thousand origami axes is being chronicled on their twitter, and though it's an arduous grind, they're optimistic about reaching their goal.

If this goal is reached, one wonders what will await the player at the end of their journey. While there's no known in-game reward for making a thousand origami axes, it would be nice if Capcom were to recognize these efforts in some form if they are successful. Capcom has had weapon design contests in the past for Monster Hunter and has implemented a few select fanmade weapon designs in the series, so the possibility of being acknowledged in some fashion by the developer isn't totally out of the question.

But whether there is a reward waiting at the end of the path or not, in many ways, the accomplishment is its own reward. Grinding the same monsters again and again to make a thousand of one weapon is incredibly brave and ambitious. The dedication it takes to go through such a journey is extremely admirable, and being able to show off a thousand origami axes is certainly worth bragging about in Monster Hunter Rise.
