Rampage weapons in Monster Hunter Rise have been an odd beast since the launch of the game. These highly customizable items are either largely ignored, or are considered the most powerful weapons in the game, depending on the type (for instance the Bow and Hunting Horn).

With the latest update, Capcom has added yet another way to customize these versatile weapons. Now, players can spend zenny, Apex parts, and Defender Tickets to change the look of their favorite Rampage weapon into any other weapon of its type in the game! However, this aesthetically pleasing new feature isn’t the easiest extra to unlock.

How to Change the Look of Rampage Weapons in Monster Hunter Rise

Monster Hunter Rise Rampage Agitato S

First and foremost, it’s important for players to know that they won’t be able to change the look of any old Rampage weapon. Before this feature can be utilized, players have to fully upgrade their weapon of choice. And this is not a cheap or easy process.

As an example, the Rampage Agitato I, the base level Rampage Hunting Horn, requires 15,000 zenny, as well as rare Apex Azuros parts. And it only gets pricier and harder from there. Each upgrade level requires more zenny, Apex parts, and Defender Tickets (items that can only be acquired by completing Rampage Quests). By the time it’s ready to be upgraded to the Rampage Agitato S, players will need 50,000 zenny, two Apex Shockshells (which can only be obtained from Apex Zinogres), and three Defender Ticket 9’s (which are only rewarded for completing the hardest Rampage Quests)!

All told, fully upgrading a single Rampage weapon could take over ten hours of hunting to accomplish. But once that pinnacle is reached, players will unlock the ability to change the look of their weapon completely.

Monster Hunter Rise Will Feature New Actions, Upgrades To Armor

The process is relatively straightforward. Head to Hamon at the Steelworks or Nakago who hangs out in the Hub Prep Area and choose to “Ramp-Up Weapons.” From there, the third option, “Layered Rampage Weapons”, is what players should look for. Assuming they’ve successfully upgraded their Rampage weapon, it will show up in the list as modifiable.

Selecting it will then lead to a new list. This is what players have been looking for. They can scroll through every single version of their weapon available. If a player thought the Toxic Fungasax looked cool, but didn’t like the tunes it played, then spending a few Defender Tickets and bone parts will change the look of their hunting horn to match it without sacrificing any stats. It’s important to keep in mind though, that the rarer the design, the rarer the Defender Tickets it will require. Players can change their look as often as they want as long as they have the zenny and items needed.

It was awesome to see Layered Armor added in Version 2.0, but with the launch of 3.0, Capcom has taken things in Monster Hunter Rise to a new level. The ability to basically build a completely custom weapon, down to its very design is one of the best non-hunting features in the game, and really gives Rampage Weapons a special aspect that makes them worth pursuing.
