Thanks to the incredibly intense situations the robbers often experience in Money Heist, they don’t always make the best decisions. There are, however, a few key moments where each character shows they can put others or the success of the heist above themselves.

The best things characters have done on the show often come at a great cost, forcing them to set aside their selfishness and ego for the good of the gang. These actions often have a significant and positive impact on the events that follow. With the recent conclusion of the massively popular series, it’s the perfect time to look back at some of the most admirable things the robbers ever did.

Manila: Let Denver Go

Manila weights her options in Money Heist

One of the burning questions Money Heist’s finale had to answer was how Manila and Denver’s budding relationship would unfold. Viewers who were fans of Stockholm and Denver likely felt stressed after Manila’s shocking confession, which only becomes worse when they secretly share a kiss soon after.

Thankfully, Manila realizes that the whole thing won’t work out. She doesn’t seem to feel too guilty about kissing Denver, but at least admits it to Stockholm. Since she doesn’t feel the spark she expected to during the kiss, Manila lets Denver go, who is quickly reunited with a very forgiving Stockholm. Manila’s decision doesn’t significantly impact the heist, but it does matter to fans who want to see Denver and Stockholm’s relationship repaired.

Nairobi: Kept Printing Money And Melting Gold

If there’s one thing fans can always count on Nairobi for, it’s that she’ll keep the plan going despite the mounting chaos around her. Fans may recall how she masterfully commands hostages to keep printing money until the last second during the heist in the Royal Mint.

There’s also an unforgettable monologue from Nairobi during the Bank of Spain heist when things are going wrong all around the thieves. She reminds the workers that melting the gold is their only concern, sternly telling them that they should never stop no matter what they hear outside. Without her firm leadership and motivational speeches, both heists would’ve ended up failing.

Berlin: Sacrificed Himself In The Royal Mint

Berlin looking up as a rifle is aimed at him in Money Heist.

As the leader of the Royal Mint heist, Berlin had a huge responsibility to execute the plan well, which he often failed to do. He was an egoistic and ruthless figurehead, often acting out of anger and spite, like when he throws Tokyo out of the building or chokes Nairobi in a fit of rage.

Berlin’s transformation in Money Heist comes at the last second of his life, as he chooses to sacrifice himself to give others time to escape. He says a memorable line about dying with dignity, which is moving in that moment but isn’t enough to make up for all the terrible things he has done.

Stockholm: Shot Arturo

Things aren’t looking too good for the gang when Arturo leads a group of hostages into the armory. With a flamethrower and hundreds of guns around him, he becomes overconfident and starts threatening to take the robbers down. His threats have merit, though, as an assault team is poised to take advantage of the thieves’ weakness if they don’t act soon.

It’s surprisingly Stockholm who’s able to put a stop to Arturo’s rampage. She uncharacteristically bravely shoots him, which buys the gang the time they need to put everything back in place. The action severely traumatizes her but keeps the heist going another day.

Denver: Kept The Professor’s Secret

Viewers likely felt nervous after Denver’s tense confrontation with the Professor towards the end of the finale. He seems to have lost faith in their plan, which he can’t really be blamed for considering how they’re all being held at gunpoint.

As Lisbon and the Professor are taken away, she shouts to remind him not to tell them about the missing gold, as it’s their only hope of escaping. Tamayo tempts Denver with a new life, complete with a generous pension – all he has to do is tell him the Professor’s secret. Denver seems to waver for a bit, but bursts out laughing after he writes down a joke instead of the secret. He came so close to jeopardizing the entire heist at the last second but avoided disaster by trusting in the Professor’s plan.

Rio: Told The Public About His Interrogation

The experience that changes Rio the most throughout Money Heist's seasons is his brutal interrogation in the hands of the CNI. Fans have a vague idea about what he goes through in Alicia's hands but learn about the full extent of it after he’s reunited with Tokyo and the rest of the gang in the Bank of Spain.

He suffers from PTSD because of the torture but has the courage to recount his harrowing experiences in front of a camera. He believes the Professor when he tells him it’s a crucial part of the plan and it ends up stopping an assault on the bank, which buys them much-needed time to think about their next steps.

Tokyo: Sacrificed Herself To Save Denver And Manila

Tokyo is a polarizing character in the fandom. Whether fans like her or not, though, no one can deny that Tokyo’s story arc in Money Heist's final season helped redeem her in the eyes of many viewers.

No one will soon forget the dramatic death that’s fitting for her character. With bullets flying around her and Rio’s hand through a hole in the floor, she smiles and welcomes her demise, comforting the young hacker during her last moments. She even manages to take the despicable Gandía and a few other elite soldiers down with her. Her sacrifice not only saves Denver and Manila’s lives but also evens the playing field enough for the gang to see the plan through until the end.

Alicia: Found The Gold

Fans can’t be blamed for not knowing whether to trust Alicia or not in the finale – she has spent most of her time on the show trying to catch the robbers, after all. It becomes clear that she’s part of the gang when she shares a heartfelt moment with the Professor where she admits she’s only running from her sadness.

Her vulnerability helps the Professor trust her during a crucial point, as he makes the decision to put her in charge of looking for the stolen gold. None of the group’s efforts up to that point would have been worth it if she hadn’t found Rafael and Tatiana’s hideout. It’s even implied that she takes care of the gold’s transportation across borders after the heist.

Lisbon: Switched Sides

As an inspector, Lisbon was a competent antagonist who managed to keep the Professor on his toes during the first heist. She could’ve stopped them if she wanted to, but she decides that their philosophy makes more sense than the government.

She has become a crucial member of the gang since then, often being the person the robbers’ can count on to be level-headed during stressful situations. It’s safe to say that the second heist wouldn’t have been successful without her, as, unlike Palermo, she makes rational choices that are not driven by fear or anger. The fact that she’s able to help the Professor stick to and execute the plan is only an added bonus.

Professor: Planned The Bank Of Spain Heist

Fans learn in the finale that the Bank of Spain heist was actually close to impossible based on its original design by Berlin and Palermo. After his brother’s death, though, the Professor tirelessly works on it to perfect it and get rid of any potential flaws – Rio’s kidnapping was the perfect excuse to actually pull it off.

Without the Professor’s brilliant plan, the gang would have never been able to save Rio and make history by achieving the impossible. Only someone as ambitious and brilliant as Sergio could execute the calculated risk and rob the national reserve with a talented crew. Things could have ended a lot worse without him at the helm.
