Money Heist star Itziar Ituño says that she thinks the Professor won't stop running heists after the events of the series finale. Money Heist, the Spanish crime drama created by Álex Pina, ran for 5 seasons on Netflix and just aired its concluding set of episodes on December 3, 2021. Over the course of the show, which featured extended heists that last weeks and spread across multiple seasons, the gang of robbers led by the mastermind known as the Professor (Álvaro Morte) robbed the Royal Mint and then the Bank of Spain.

One of the main characters of the series is Raquel Murillo, played by Itziar Ituño, who begins the series as the inspector assigned to negotiate with the Professor during the Royal Mint heist. However, over the course of the first heist, she falls in love with him and even joins the second heist as a member of the gang, adopting the code name Lisbon. Although the second heist strained their relationship considerably, they ended the series happily engaged, having successfully stolen all the gold from the bank's water-sealed underground vault.

Ituño discussed the ending of the series in an interview at the Money Heist-themed convention The Hold Up Gang, which took place in Paris on January 8, 2022 (shared by Roster Con). She was asked what she thought might happen to Lisbon and the Professor after the show's happy ending. While she said she thought "the Professor will go after another bank," Lisbon would not go with him because of her "sick mother and her daughter," two considerations that made her especially vulnerable during the course of the heist that she did run with her partner. Read the full quote below:

I think that, without really knowing how far this relationship will go, it’s certain that the Professor will go after another bank. And I’m not sure that Lisbon would go with him, because with her sick mother and her daughter… I don’t think so.

Raquel and Salva in Money Heist

Ituño has certainly accepted the psychological reality of the Professor, who was confronted with the truth in the final season. He is obsessed with proving himself and running heists, without any regard for the consequences that fall upon his team, even when they are people he loves. Luckily, if he does run any heists in the future, it's almost impossible for them to be any bigger than the two he has already completed, so it may be safer for his new family.

At its core, Money Heist is about a group of criminals and outcasts making a found family and defying the norms (as well as the literal laws) of contemporary Spanish society. The Professor and Lisbon's relationship is one of the core throughlines that proves this. The show has always been most interested in plumbing the characters and their dynamics, with the thrilling heist mechanics taking a secondary role in the overall hierarchy.
