The fifth part of Money Heist is here but before fans can get into this brief but fascinating outing with their favorite characters, they might want a quick recap of all that happened up until this point. It's difficult to keep track of the many twists and turns the show has given its fans to date--for instance, recalling that the criminal mastermind, the Professor, had tried to murder Raquel Murillo, aka, Lisbon's mother.

The incredibly popular series is building up towards its final climax. But while part 5 sticks to the breakneck pace of the show that fans are used to, it digs deeper into some of the characters' backstories. Always a show about profound human emotions underneath the adrenaline-driven plot points, fans should prepare for a new season that lives up to expectations.

Berlin Was The Professor's Brother

Fans should recall that Berlin was revealed to be the Professor's brother. The two were putting into motion the grand heist plan that their father had designed years ago but had never been able to execute.

One of the most memorable scenes in the series came around the same time that fans found out that the two most fascinating characters on the show were actually related by blood. Berlin, the more flamboyant of the two brothers, and the Professor, whose real name has been revealed to be Sergio, sang together Bella Ciao, the Money Heist anthem that has taken the world by storm.

Stockholm's Son Is Arturo's

Another thing to remember before watching part 5 is that Stockholm (who was originally Monica), had been pregnant with Arturo's child when fans first met her in part 1 of the series.

It was then that Monica and Denver fell in love during the heist at the Royal Mint of Spain, and Monica later had her son who was named Cincinnati, keeping in tune with the assumed names of the gang. Without giving away spoilers it is safe to note that the latest part has references to Stockholm's past and her relationship with the slimy Arturo, whom Money Heist fans hate far more than they do the robbers.

Tokyo's First Boyfriend Was Killed During A Bank Robbery

Tokyo looks up in Money Heist.

Fans know that Tokyo is the show's narrator and that she was the Professor's first recruit for the Royal Mint of Spain heist. But what they must be reminded of before delving into part 5 is that Tokyo's boyfriend had just been killed during a gunfight following a bank robbery gone wrong.

The latest part digs deep into Tokyo's past as things get intense inside the Bank of Spain and the gang is literally struggling to survive. One of the main USPs of the show has always been its sensitive handling of profound human emotions that makes fans instantly connect with the characters, making them more human.

Gandia Killed Nairobi Sadistically

Of course, one of the most tragic deaths in part 4 was that of Nairobi. Fans could hardly believe it as the bubbly young woman was murdered heartlessly. She was shot by the Spanish police after being deceived by Sierra who lured her to the windows using Nairobi's little son as bait.

However, Nairobi might have made it that time had it not been for the sadistic Gandia, the head of the bank's security. The latter is a terminator-esque character, shown to have very little human sentiments, and it was he who finally killed Nairobi in the most brutal manner possible.

Manila Is Moscow's Godchild

An additional gang member in part 4 was Manila, who was really Moscow's godchild, and who had joined the gang for their plan to rob gold from the Bank of Spain.

Even today, LGBTQ+ characters don't get depicted enough on popular television, but Money Heist fans know that Manila is a member of the LGBTQ+ community. She had been born Juan and Denver had known her as such until he met Juanita before the heist. As someone who wasn't part of the original gang, it is easy to miss out on small details but fans would do well to remember them for part 5.

The Professor Had Lisbon Delivered At The Bank Of Spain

Following a series of heart-stopping twists and turns, the Professor had Lisbon, or Raquel, delivered at the Bank of Spain in part 4. Raquel had been captured by the police and the Professor even briefly believed that she had been killed, until he realized that there was no evidence of her death.

He then embarked on his massive plan to get Lisbon out of the police tent and back into the Bank. From abducting an unsuspecting young woman who was to be Lisbon's look-alike to dropping Lisbon at the Bank via a helicopter that the Spanish authorities thought was one of theirs, the Professor had the latter properly fooled.

The Professor Currently Has A New Set Of People Working With Him

The Professor tapped into the resources of a fresh set of people who are currently helping him as the robbers fight for their lives inside the Bank. This new team has been gathered by Benjamin who happens to be Manila's dad. He is also a miner whose talents were used to transport Lisbon into the Bank.

Led by Benjamin, the new set of people are mostly miners who now take over providing the much-needed contingency plan for the Professor and the gang as they continue to one-up the Spanish authorities. The Professor uses these miners to get Lisbon back to the Bank and they are now to some extent his new recruits helping the original gang from outside.

Alicia Sierra Found The Professor's Lair

The climax in part 4 came with Alicia Sierra finally chancing upon the Professor in his grubby lair even as Lisbon was being smuggled into the Bank.

That is where part 4 left off sending Money Heist fans into a frenzy of convoluted theories regarding the upcoming season. Sierra has been a fascinating character and a force to reckon with, a character that the audience knows every little about and that is expected to unravel itself further in the coming part. Sierra's interaction with the Professor as the two titans clash would surely be something to watch out for.

Palermo & Helsinki Had A Thing Going

An image of Helsinki and Palermo hugging as they both cry in front of a door in the show Money Heist.

Fans should remember that Helsinki and Palermo had just begun to have their very own dance, a dance that might eventually lead to an endearing relationship between the two.

While their relationship has been physical, Helsinki has been shown trying to break through the defensive walls that Palermo had set up to prevent himself from getting hurt again. After all, Palermo had been in love with Berlin earlier and was still not in the best emotional state to start a proper relationship. However, fans can hope that he might eventually reciprocate what Helsinki feels.

Just Like Bogota & Nairobi

Just as Helsinki and Palermo had developed what could be a potential romance, Bogota and Nairobi too had started developing feelings for each other. Until then, the main romances on the show were those between Tokyo and Rio, Denver and Stockholm, and of course, Lisbon and the Professor.

Unfortunately, Nairobi was killed off even before Bogota and she had started anything real and Bogota was naturally devastated at her shocking death. Fans would do well to recall their nascent feelings for each other as they go on to watch the latest part.
