One of the more remarkable aspects of the MCU, especially the series in the The Defenders saga on Netflix, is how each piece of the puzzle adds to a larger whole while retaining its sense of individuality. Whether you’re watching Daredevil, Jessica Jones, or Luke Cage, each story stands on its own. While it certainly helps create a bigger picture if you’ve seen them all, the worlds of Hell’s Kitchen and Harlem allow for unique perspectives that never lean on each other as much as they enhance the whole.

Tonally, each series is a unique experience. You like Daredevil for reasons independent from why you like Luke Cage. Part of what gives each series its own sense of identity is the differences in score. From the frenetic action of Daredevil to the jazzed-out noir of Jessica Jones to the R&B and hip-hop laced tones of Luke Cage, the identity of each series is highlighted and set due largely to the music that accompanies it. Last month, Mondo announced the release of Ali-Shaheed Muhammed and Adrian Younge’s phenomenal Luke Cage score. Now, the rest of The Defenders gang is getting in on the action.

Earlier today, Mondo announced the upcoming release of the Daredevil season 1 score from John Paesano (Maze Runner: The Scorch Trials) and the Jessica Jones season 1 score from Sean Callery (Homeland), who won an Emmy Award for the Jessica Jones title sequence. Both albums, limited to pressings of 3,000 each, go on sale on Wednesday, November 9 via Mondo. According to Mondo Record Label Manage Mo Shafeek:

"We are so proud to continue the series of Marvel soundtracks with Daredevil and Jessica Jones. It's extremely exciting to see each character come to life and with each new soundtrack it feels like we are building something bigger along the way, just like the characters in the shows are coming together for a larger purpose."

Jessica Jones Mondo Vinyl Soundtrack

As with every Mondo Records release, both sets are meant to serve as full album experiences. In addition to the music from each series, fans will also get exclusive artwork from artist Matthew Woodson, featuring the hero on the exterior gatefold, and the villains -- Kilgrave and Fisk, respectively -- on the interior. Additionally, the Daredevil soundtrack is pressed on red vinyl, and Jessica Jones on purple, making each album a unique addition to any vinyl collection.

For those interested in musical scores, it doesn’t get much better than a Mondo release. Their previously released soundtracks for Mad Max: Fury Road, Jurassic Park, and It Follows each showcased the music in a way that honored the source, with high-quality transfers and accompanying artwork. That they’re getting involved with Marvel is a delightful surprise for superhero fans, and fans of modern score in general.

Both the Daredevil and Jessica Jones soundtracks will be available for $25. Their limited pressings are sure to go fast, however, and once they’re gone there’s no guarantee that they’ll be repressed. Each will be available at noon on Mondotees.com on Wednesday, November 9. With Christmas around the corner, they’re the perfect addition to the vinyl loving superhero fan in your life.
