Warning: SPOILERS for Ant-Man 3!Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star and MODOK actor Corey Stoll is unclear as to when or if he’ll return to the MCU, but is absolutely ready for action. MODOK was one of the most memorable aspects of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, in large part due to the fact that it brought Corey Stoll back into the MCU. Stoll was last seen winking into the quantum realm as Darren Cross/Yellowjacket in the original Ant-Man, and while the intervening seven years have not been kind to his character, it is a joy to see the actor facing off against Paul Rudd’s Scott Lang once more.

Yellowjacket clearly survived the ending of Ant-Man, resulting in this rewritten take on MODOK, but the Mental Organism Designed Only for Killing appears to be very much deceased at the end of Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. While this makes an immediate return for the character unlikely, anything is possible in the MCU, and Corey Stoll is ready for it. Here’s what the actor had to say during an interview with Screen Rant about when he may be seen again:

Your guess is as good as mine? I am down to continue playing M.O.D.O.K. That would be so much fun, but I have no inside knowledge on that one.

Where MODOK Could Appear After Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania

Corey Stoll as Darren Cross and MODOK in Ant Man and Wasp Quantumania

It's unclear when MODOK will return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but given that this is the phase of the Multiverse, it’s certainly possible. It’s also likely more Ant-Man films will be made, and there’s always a chance the current timeline’s MODOK could have survived his apparent death at Quantumania’s ending (though the heart monitor on his suit did seem to show otherwise). As the MCU often employs flashbacks when explaining how characters survived, perhaps future stories can explore more of MODOK’s survival in the quantum realm before the events of Quantumania – something Corey Stoll revealed he would have liked to see:

Obviously, [I'd love to see] just the whole process of turning into M.O.D.O.K. and his relationship with Kang. It would be really interesting to see the more vicious, menacing side of him. You see a little bit of it, but it's deflated pretty quickly because Scott deflates it pretty quickly. Nobody who knew him before really takes him seriously. Everybody in the Quantum Realm thinks M.O.D.O.K. is the scariest guy in the world, but our gang knows who he really is.

There is also an infinite number of MODOK variants in the Multiverse, although if the slew of variants in Loki is any indication, not all would necessarily have to be played by Stoll. With Jonathan Majors’ Kang set to return in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and with many other possibilities for Kang in the MCU, Stoll’s MODOK could return as a foil to Kang in the same vein as his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. No matter how MODOK were to return, it would be enjoyable to see Stoll in the role interacting with Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas, and Evangeline Lilly again after Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania.
