Fans can relate to Modern Family because getting along with relatives isn't always the easiest of tasks. While the Pritchett and Dunphy clan clearly love each other, they definitely get on each other's nerves on a regular basis. Of course, that's why the show is so funny and why it lasted for 11 seasons.

While some parts of the show confuse fans, the characters bring a lot to the table. From dramatic Gloria to silly Phil, ditzy Haley to controlling (but charming) Claire, this family runs the gamut of every potential personality. While the characters love to celebrate Halloween, their regular life doesn't typically involve many scares, which is why it would be fascinating to see them in a horror movie.

Jay Pritchett

Jay smiling on Modern Family

The family patriarch, Jay is set in his ways and even though he drives his family nuts, he cares about them and that's a comfort to them during the hardest times.

Jay wouldn't make it very far in a horror story, as some characters in this genre will think that they're above their dire circumstances. He would think that he was smarter than the killer and he would roll his eyes, saying that he wasn't afraid at all.

Gloria Delgado-Pritchett

Gloria leaning back and touching her hair on Modern Family

Fans might not recall all of Gloria's backstory, but the character is hilarious and overdramatic. She's totally devoted to her son Manny and would do anything for him. Her relationship with Jay is charming as they don't always understand each other but do their best.

Unfortunately, Gloria wouldn't survive a horror movie, and would be among the first to go. Her scene could take place after the opening credits and she would be alone in her big mansion. Horror fans would know what was going to happen from the moment they saw her.

Cameron Tucker

Cam looking surprised in Modern Family

Cam often thinks he's the star of his own movie — or musical. He's a loveable, sweet character who adores his life with Mitch and Lily. He he makes every day fun, as he loves cooking, pop culture, and socializing.

Cam would be confident that he could defeat a killer. The scene would be long and involved, but it seems like he wouldn't make it out alive. While Cam loves dressing up as Fizbo the clown, he hates Halloween because of something that happened when he was a kid, so it seems like he would get really scared when confronted with an actual killer.

Mitchell Pritchett

Cam and Mitch in Missouri on Modern Family

Mitch has some strange personality traits, but he's absolutely perfect for Cam. The two always have important yet light-hearted storylines on the sitcom.

Mitch doesn't seem like someone who watches a lot of movies, let alone scary ones, as he's a super busy lawyer juggling his work schedule and his family life. He seems like he would accept the situation and resign himself to the horror before him, which would be tough to watch.

Phil Dunphy

Phil looking happy and holding up his fist on Modern Family

Phil has a passionate, determined personality, although he's different from his wife Claire who tends to be more controlling. He is a very inventive person and in a tense situation, he would be able to think fast and come up with a strange object to fight off the killer. It might not save his life, and it's easy to imagine Phil dying halfway through the horror movie, but heck if he won't try to live.

Claire Dunphy

Claire making an annoyed face on Modern Family

Claire is one of the most hilarious characters on Modern Family. She wants everything in her life to be perfect, and she doesn't think that's too much to ask. She has trouble with technology (including a tricky remote control that Phil buys in season 1) and tends to do things for her kids instead of teaching them (like when Haley has to bake 40 cupcakes).

Claire isn't always on her best behavior and that's why she would be fairly likely to survive a horror movie. She would think of some unique and interesting ways to trap the killer, and she wouldn't think twice about it.

Manny Delgado

Manny is wise beyond his years and definitely acts like more of a grown-up than a kid — or some of the adult members of his family.

He loves coffee and has a great vocabulary, and his mature personality would help him in a horror movie. He has a knack for playing pranks on people and loves getting revenge, and that's exactly how he would approach the situation before him. He would create a booby trap for the killer and it would be fun to watch.

Haley Dunphy

Haley is pretty and popular and doesn't always understand what's going on, but that's part of her charm.

Haley makes a lot of errors in her young life but her ditzy personality could actually be an asset in a horror movie. She would assume that of course she could survive and her conviction and courage would help her make it through. She might even work with her siblings, which would up her chances for survival as she would benefit from Alex's intellect. Also, now that Haley's a mom of twins, her maternal instincts would kick in.

Luke Dunphy

Luke has a reputation in the Dunphy household for being a bit on the dumb side, but Phil knows that he's brilliant in his own unique way.

When Luke was younger, he loved discovering treasure and exploring with Phil, and he would apply the same mindset to the horrifying situation that he found himself in. He would know what to do and might even save his sisters, too, as he would tell them to follow his lead. His big imagination would help him.

Alex Dunphy

Alex looks very different in season 11 from season 1, but even though she's all grown up by the series finale, she's still a brilliant nerd who is smarter than her family members.

Right away, Alex would assess the lay of the land and know when it's time to hide vs when it's time to fight. She would become so obsessed with saving her brother and sister that she would be branded a hero by the time everything was over.
