Cameron Tucker is one of the few characters on Modern Family who has a signature style. He's typically always wearing a fun button-down shirt with colorful cuffs. He's not afraid to play around with prints and he takes pride in his style. He and Mitchell sometimes even accidentally match —which never ends well.
As stylish as Cameron's wardrobe is, he sometimes misses the mark. There are times his love for theatrics takes over his sense of style and he's the topic of conversation (not in a good way). From costumes to vacations, Cameron Tucker doesn't shy away from playing with fashion.
Best: Australia
Towards the end of the fifth season, the entire family traveled from Los Angeles to Australia to be there for Phil as he grieved the loss of his mother. Mitch and Cam felt obligated to hang out with a friend of theirs whom they meant a few years back, but what they didn't realize was that their friend was actually a celebrity in Australia.
The two clung to his celebrity during the trip and Cameron's style reflected his time down under. He wore cute hats that protected him from the sun and breathable shirts with colorful bottoms. Cam looked the part.
Worst: Fizbo
Cameron would hate this but his Fizbo costume makes the "worst-dressed" list. Dressing as a clown is not a fashionable look, especially for a middle-aged man. His husband hated it, his daughter was annoyed by it, and Phil was terrified of it.
Fizbo's entire motive was to spread love and bring happiness but what Cam didn't factor in was how many people are petrified of clowns.
Best: Paris
In the 11th season, the family traveled to Paris to celebrate Jay's award for achievement in the closet industry. When Cameron arrived, he was wearing a stunning peacoat with a sweater vest and plaid shirt. In Paris terms, he totally looked the part.
Mitchell, on the other hand, worked on his style throughout the episode, but Cameron nailed it. (That is until he switched gears and changed into his Fizbo costume.)
Worst: Lily’s Baby Music Class
Cameron and Mitchell have definitely evolved throughout the series, and this includes the fashion department. In the early seasons, Cameron was fond of bright polo shirts.
And while there's nothing wrong with polo shirts, his iconic patterned button-downs are much more flattering and fashionable. Seeing Cam in khaki pants and a lime green polo shirt at Lily's music class felt very off-brand.
Best: His Wedding Day
How dashing did Mitchell and Cameron look on their wedding day? The day started out stressful when the dry cleaners gave Cameron the wrong suit. He, Mitchell, and Lily had to practically break into the shop to get the right suit for the big day. And after seeing Cam walk down the aisle, it was worth it. He looked so handsome in his get-up.
Worst: When The Midwest Comes To LA
As a high school gym teacher, Cam typically wore a light blue collar and dark blue shorts with tube socks. He loved the way he looked in those shorts. Sadly, Cam tried elevating this look with a cowboy hat during parent-teacher night. Between the cowboy hat and the tube socks, it was hard to take him seriously. One can only imagine what the parents thought when he tried officiating the dodgeball game with a cowboy hat on.
Best: Halloween
When Cameron lost some weight, he wanted to show off his new physique on Halloween night. With Lily by his side, he dressed them as Mr. Roarke and Tattoo from the series Fantasy Island. Cam wore an all-white suit, a black tie, and even greyed his hair. He looked incredibly put-together. Dare we say this look outdid his wedding suit?
Worst: Lake Life
In the season 9 premiere of Modern Family, everyone went to the lake to watch the solar eclipse from a boat. Cameron was so happy that he married into a family who loved the lake, but on this particular trip, he was trying to hide from the sun. According to the doctor, he had to wear breathable clothing and a ton of sunscreen.
However, Cameron took it too far. He wore a white caftan, big sunglasses, a sun hat, and carried an umbrella. Gloria and Mitchell had no qualms with telling Cam how bizarre he looked.
Best: Farm Strong
Being from Missouri, Cam is proud of his Midwest roots and always dreamed of moving back home one day. Whenever there was a chance to get outside and do something remotely close to farm work, Cameron was first in line. He even hosted Thanksgiving one year and made it farm-themed.
As silly as Cam looked wearing a cowboy hat and cowboy boots in LA, he fit the part. He looked very comfortable in this look and it made him proud when he did. No one looks better in farm clothing than Cameron Tucker.
Worst: When He Was In Cats?
In "When A Tree Falls," Cameron did everything he could to protect a tree that the city wanted to chop down. But things changed when he got called in to be a backup in the local theater's production of Cats. When the show was over, Cameron came back to protect the tree dressed in full costume. From the yights to the whiskers, Cameron should have left this look at the theater.
