Warning: Spoilers for Mob Psycho 100 Season 3, Episode 5The third season of ONE's Mob Psycho 100 has centered on the giant stalk of broccoli that sprouted in the middle of Seasoning City, a miraculous event that soon drew worshipers who called it "the Divine Tree." Now, however, one of Mob's former allies has seized upon this budding religion to become its leader, making him a powerful new enemy in the process.

The giant stalk of broccoli was actually Mob's doing, and enough people were vaguely aware of who did it that they knew what Mob looked like, even if not his name. Mob didn't want credit for this, though, which left the role of prophet for this new religion open. That's when Dimple, a spirit who Mob once defeated and has tagged along ever since, decides this is his chance to reclaim his lost power. Dimple possessed the broccoli and was able to reach out to almost the entire city, subtly influencing their thoughts into worshiping the tree, which in turn gave him even more power.

When Mob, who had no idea Dimple was the one behind this, decided that he had to deal with this situation, it was a bit too late, Dimple had been able to fashion a humanoid body that resembled Mob, known as Psycho Helmet to his followers. Convinced that Psycho Helmet had created the broccoli, he was able to use the power of their faith to achieve incredible strength, and surprisingly, he was willing to share with Mob. As usual, Mob has no real interest in using his psychic abilities for personal gain, so he refuses, inevitably leading the two into a fight. As the battle continued, Dimple was even forced to take on a super-powered form with a golden body which he called "God Dimple," and which closely resembled the character of Golden Sperm from ONE's other big series, One-Punch Man.

Dimple Has Always Had Aspirations for Godhood

This isn't the first time Dimple has tried to pull something like this. Previously, Dimple founded a cult centered on laughing known as the LOL cult by taking possession of one person and had easily built up a decent following by the time Mob learned of this. There, Dimple used cursed masks that forced the wearer to laugh, which made it easy for him to influence them further. He's pulled a similar trick here, as part of his influence over the people of Seasoning City was that they had to come in contact with the broccoli in order to be influenced. That incident managed to get Mob upset enough that he reached 100%, so there's a pretty high likelihood that happens again. Last time, however, this nearly ended with Dimple getting exorcised, so there's no guarantee both characters make it out alive this time around.

Dimple has been a complex character, filled with conflicting motivations and loyalties, so a confrontation of this sort was almost inevitable. Mob Psycho 100 may primarily be a comedy, but episodes like this one prove that it can do action and even drama just as well.
