Early access Xbox players have already gotten their hands on MLB The Show 21, and they say PlayStation indeed makes make it known that MLB The Show 21 was a game developed by PlayStation Studios studio across all of its platforms. Being the first-ever Sony Interactive Entertainment-developed game to come to Xbox consoles, there were many questions leading up to launch about whether or not the PlayStation Studios logo would appear on the Xbox version, and the answer is yes.In a rather historic turn of events, MLB published MLB The Show 21 on Xbox, as opposed to SIE. PlayStation Studios has been developing MLB The Show for decades, but when it came time for new contracts, the MLB made the series a multi-platform franchise. This year's entry marks the first time the series has been on another platform besides PlayStation, as well as the first ever PlayStation-developed game on Xbox. It's a pretty big deal.Related: MLB The Show 2021 Pre-Order Bonuses & Special Editions ExplainedSony's San Diego Studios is still the developer of MLB The Show 21, meaning the Sony (and/or the MLB) had to use its resources to drum up a Xbox Series X/S and Xbox One ports. As recorded by players who have already jumped into the game via early access, it's clear Sony doesn't want players to forget where the series comes from. Since MLB is technically publishing the game on Xbox, it's possible it wouldn't be able to use PlayStation's trademarked characters, though it's unclear. Outside of MLB The Show, it's unlikely a PlayStation-Xbox crossover will ever happen again. This was a deal made largely out of Sony's control, and unless there are unforeseen changes on the horizon, Sony probably won't release more PlayStation games on Xbox. However, games like Days Gone are coming to PC, so that shift will continue to bring the PlayStation Studios logo to another platform outside of Sony's ecosystem. For as bizarre as it is to see PlayStation symbols in an Xbox game, it's technically not the first time Xbox and PlayStation have crossed over in odd ways. After all, Xbox technically publishes Minecraft games on PlayStation platforms through Mojang Studios, and Xbox Game Studios had a very similar logo sequence placed at the start of Minecraft Dungeons on PlayStation consoles. While it's not the first, MLB The Show 21 is still a historical moment in the bigger picture of cross-platform gaming.Next: Why MLB The Show 21 On Xbox Game Pass Is So ConfusingMLB The Show 21 will be available on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, and Xbox One on April 20, 2021.Source: Jeff Rubenstein
