The heroes of the DC Universe have tried plenty of ways to end Darkseid once and for all, but in Mister Miracle #11, his adopted son Scott Free may finally be the one to pull it off. And his plan all begin with a standard vegetable tray... seriously.
In the hands of a lesser hero, a veggie tray may only be useful for hosting a party. But in the hands of Mister Miracle, the greatest escape artist in the known universe, the odds are good that it's only the first step in his larger plan to double-cross Darkseid. Given the ultimatum of offering up his infant son to be sacrificed in the name of peace, our preview of Mister Miracle #11 sees Scott and Barda answering the invitation to Darkseid's throne room.
What happens next... well, that's anyone's guess. But oddly enough, Mister Miracle's powers of "escape" may not help him in getting out of this predicament. And we're betting that Scott knows it.
The threat of a massive, galaxy-spanning war between the forces of Apokolips and New Genesis may not be particularly new for DC fans. But with Scott Free now holding the rank of Highfather in Tom King and Mitch Gerads' Mister Miracle series - and in possession of a baby with his longtime love Big Barda - Darkseid sees history repeating itself. Where Scott's father once offered him to Darkseid as a compromise for peace, the same offer has now been put to Scott.
After much distress and consideration, Mister Miracle #10 concluded with Scott's decision. He would bring his and Barda's son, Jacob, to Darkseid as requested. Then before the cosmic conqueror could react, he would kill him. Or die trying. Probably die trying. Which is why Barda is coming along for the ride.
Take a look at the preview pages below:
The most obvious hint at how Scott and Barda intend to turn the tables is the fondness between Barda and Leilani, the member of the Female Furies charged with frisking them for weapons (half-heartedly). What such a powerful and concealable weapon could be is up for discussion. But there's no denying that in these preview pages... that vegetable tray is sure looking suspect. Not visually, since its carrots, celery, broccoli, and cauliflower have been skillfully rendered by Gerads. Something tells us a poisoned veggie isn't the card up Scott's sleeve, however.
One thing is for sure: Darkseid is a carrot man. Check out a full synopsis for the issue below:
