New Mission: Impossible - Fallout Poster Confirms Trailer This Week

Tom Cruise's latest action film Mission: Impossible - Fallout gets a new poster, with a new trailer coming later this week. In the sixth installment of the durable franchise, Cruise returns as super spy Ethan Hunt and finds himself dealing with the fallout from a past adventure, as he and his IMF team have to race against time after a mission gone wrong.

Of course, this being a Mission: Impossible movie, there are loads of crazy stunts performed by Tom Cruise himself. In one elaborate sequence, Cruise piloted his own helicopter for a chase scene, with bad guy Henry Cavill trying to shoot him down. Later, Cruise outdid himself by performing a terrifying skydiving stunt from 35,000 feet up together with a free-falling cameraman positioned just a few feet away.

Somehow, Cruise lived to complete the movie (though he did manage to break a foot along the way). Now, a new poster has been released for Mission: Impossible - Fallout with promises of a new trailer loaded with Tom Cruise action coming later this week. See the poster below:

Update: Paramount unveiled a second new poster this week (below), as well as a trailer teaser (above) confirming the new trailer.

The new poster obviously gives Cruise the spotlight, but also gives prominent placement to Rebecca Ferguson, who returns as Ilsa Faust. Cavill and his controversial mustache also get some attention, as does new cast member Angela Bassett. Of course, Simon Pegg and Ving Rhames are both back as well. And Alec Baldwin also returns as Alan Hunley.

With the summer movie season looking loaded, it will be interesting to see how Mission: Impossible - Fallout ultimately performs at the box office. Christopher McQuarrie, Tom Cruise and company clearly went all-out to make the movie as action-packed as possible. The film's late July release date at least keeps it clear of the big superhero movies of the summer, with Infinity War already out and Deadpool 2 set to arrive soon. Ant-Man & the Wasp does come out a few weeks before, as does the latest Dwayne Johnson action movie Skyscraper. Teen Titans Go! to the Movies comes out the same weekend as Fallout but that's clearly targeting a different audience.

Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation also came out in July, and did a healthy $195 million domestically. Worldwide, Rogue Nation did $682 million, spurred on by Tom Cruise's overseas popularity. We'll see if Mission: Impossible - Fallout becomes the third movie in the franchise to top $600 million worldwide (Ghost Protocol made $694 million back in 2011). Cruise would probably break both feet to make it to that lofty number.
