Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two director Christopher McQuarrie has released a new behind-the-scenes image, teasing the upcoming movie's aircraft carrier sequence. After getting its start back in 1996, the Mission: Impossible franchise has only grown in scale and scope, with Tom Cruise's Ethan Hunt pulling off increasingly more dangerous to save the world. After more than two decades of entertaining audiences, Hunt's story is now set to come to an end with a seventh and eighth installment.

Now, in a recent Instagram post, McQuarrie shares a behind-the-scenes look at Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two's aircraft carrier sequence.

It was reported last week that the movie was filming aboard an American aircraft carrier off the coast of Italy in the Adriatic Sea, but it was unclear which vessel filming was actually taking place on. McQuarrie's post reveals that it was the U.S.S. George H.W. Bush, with the image providing a look at the ship's packed flight deck.

What To Expect From Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two

Tom Cruise in Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning

With each new Mission: Impossible movie, Cruise challenges himself to pull off increasingly dangerous stunts. Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One's big stunt is a motorcycle jump off a cliff into a base jump, and the eighth film will presumably try to top this somehow. Thankfully, behind-the-scenes images and videos have already teased some of what's to come.

Filming for Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two has taken place partly in South Africa. Cruise has been seen in the nation clutching to the top of a biplane as it performs a variety of wild aerial maneuvers, but the context of this sequence in the larger film is not yet known. Cruise has also been spotted in England's Lake District filming paragliding scenes, suggesting that aerial action could be a significant part of the upcoming film.

In terms of plot details, many mysteries remain regarding Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two, but it has already been confirmed that Part One will end on a major cliffhanger. This suggests that the two films will be more closely linked in terms of narrative than ever before in franchise history. With the seventh film still months away from hitting theaters, it will likely be quite a while before more concrete information emerges regarding Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two.
