Mission: Impossible 7 star Rebecca Ferguson has teased weapons training with a massive sniper rifle in a new social media post. The upcoming action-espionage film has been big news over the past few months, particularly due to its hectic schedule. Originally kicking off production with the intent of being filmed back to back with Mission: Impossible 8, things hit a snag with the spread of COVID-19. The pandemic caused shooting in Italy (one of the hardest-hit nations) to be shut down roughly five months ago.

Though the highly successful franchise has yet to resume production, despite other large scale productions such as Jurassic World: Dominion and Avatar 2 having already returned to business as usual, the current plan for director Christopher McQuarrie, along with his cast and crew, is to resume shooting in September. Mission: Impossible films are notorious for their extensive stunts and the substantial training involved, but a new update from one of the film’s stars has proven that it’s not just stunts that require training.

In a new post on Ferguson's official Instagram account, the actress has posted a photo of herself getting familiar with a massive sniper rifle, assuring fans that she will not be an idle addition to Mission: Impossible 7. As one of the series’ most active and resilient characters, it’s no surprise to learn that she, like Cruise, also has a great deal of training to undertake in order to be prepared when filming resumes. You can check out the full post below:

It’s interesting to see Ferguson training as a sniper, given that she already has extensive experience with the subject. Fans of the series will recall seeing Isla Faust at the opera in Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation, utilizing her sniper skills in an attempt at taking out the Austrian Chancellor. However, Faust wasn’t successful during that particular effort, meaning Ferguson may have not needed to do extensive training for the scene, but will need to for Mission: Impossible 7. More than anything, though, what this new photo tells fans is that every detail in the Mission: Impossible films are painstakingly learned, rehearsed, and made entirely familiar to its cast. This certainly has to do with Cruise’s influence over the franchise, imparting his own degree of dedication to every aspect.

More than any other film in the franchise to date, Mission: Impossible 7 could possibly go on to become known as the biggest in scope and scale. With the next Mission: Impossible film being split into two parts, McQuarrie is undoubtedly doing everything he can to up the ante on the upcoming Mission: Impossible entries. And seeing Ferguson become more familiar with a monstrous sniper rifle, will only make fans more excited for November 2021 when Mission: Impossible 7 finally arrives.
