Vanessa Kirby is the latest cast member confirmed to return for Mission: Impossible 7 and Mission: Impossible 8. Kirby is best known for her Emmy-nominated performance as Princess Margaret in Netflix's The Crown, though most recently she began to make the jump to action films with her roles in the Mission: Impossible franchise and last summer's Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs and Shaw. She made her first Mission: Impossible appearance in 2018's Mission: Impossible - Fallout, where she played a mysterious arms dealer known as the White Widow.

The previous two installments of the Mission: Impossible franchise, Fallout and 2015's Rogue Nation, have brought the action-packed series to new heights, both critically and financially. Mission: Impossible 7 and were announced together early last year, with Christopher McQuarrie returning to direct. They will shoot back-to-back and be released a year apart; Mission: Impossible 7 is set for release on July 23, 2021. Actors returning alongside franchise star Tom Cruise include Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust and Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn. Also returning to the franchise for the first time since the first film is Henry Czerny as the original IMF boss Kitteridge.

Now Kirby is also confirmed to return for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8. While speaking to GlamourKirby mentioned she would soon begin training for Mission: Impossible. She just wrapped a film titled Pieces of a Woman that she described as "extremely intense and very dark" and said, "going into training for Mission Impossible is slightly going to release it all."

Ethan and the White Widow stand close in Mission Impossible Fallout.

Plots details for the next two Mission: Impossible adventures are scarce, but it can be assumed that the White Widow will once again find herself helping Cruise's Ethan Hunt and his team with whatever impossible task they have to deal with. Production is slowly ramping up, with Mission: Impossible 7's working title being revealed earlier this week. The films have amassed quite the supporting cast, with newcomers to the franchise including Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, Shea Whigham, and Nicholas Hoult reportedly in the villain role. The back-to-back nature of Mission: Impossibleand suggests the stories will tie into each other.

The White Widow was an interesting character in Fallout with a backstory that was never fully explained. There's a chance the next two Mission: Impossible films could shed more light on her past, though with the sheer amount of people being added along with the number of action sequences the films will no doubt have, there might not be time for it. Regardless, having her there will help tie the events of Fallout to the next installments of the franchise. Though just from the cast list alone, Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 are already shaping up to be just as thrilling as the previous films.
