Mission: Impossible 7 & 8 adds a slew of new cast members, including Rob Delaney, Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes. The highly-anticipated follow-ups to 2018's critically acclaimed Mission: Impossible - Fallout has suffered a few setbacks over the past year due to the coronavirus pandemic. Production was suspended in early 2020, later causing both projects' release dates to be pushed back. Additionally, their two-part nature meant they were going to film back-to-back. Now, however, there will be a gap between productions for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8. Currently, the still-untitled Mission: Impossible 7 is slated for release in November of this year, with the eighth installment arriving a year later.
Nevertheless, excitement for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 is already quite high. Though few plot details have been revealed, the massive cast indicates they will be thrilling additions to the spy franchise. Tom Cruise will once again lead the pack, and he'll be joined by familiar faces like Simon Pegg, Ving Rhames, Rebecca Ferguson, and, interestingly, Henry Czerny's Kittridge, back for the first time since the original Mission: Impossible. At the same time, Mission: Impossible 7 and 8 will feature plenty of newcomers, like Hayley Atwell, Pom Klementieff, and Esai Morales.
As if those weren't enough names (and there are more, to be sure), director Christopher McQuarrie has revealed five more cast members for Mission: Impossible 7 and 8. McQuarrie shared black and white shots of the new additions (presumably in character) on social media, starting with Rob Delaney. He's joined by Charles Parnell, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss, and Cary Elwes. Scroll on to see all of McQuarrie's posts.
McQuarrie let few details about these new Mission: Impossible 7 characters slip, though they all look like government/military officials. Additionally, the final post featuring Elwes included the caption "Welcome to The Community." McQuarrie's careful capitalization suggests The Community is a particular group, and one that may or may not be working in Ethan Hunt's best interests. Or, as another explanation, this could merely be McQuarrie welcoming them all to the Mission: Impossible world.
Whether The Community is a part of the films remains to be seen, making this just another mystery to add to Mission: Impossible 7 and 8's growing list. With filming having gone on for some time now, many are wondering when the first bit of footage will be released. McQuarrie has stated he hasn't seen a Mission: Impossible 7 trailer yet, so the wait will unfortunately go on for at least a while longer. Both movies have assembled a truly impressive cast, and it will be exciting to see them in action. Here's hoping some kind of trailer will emerge soon so we can finally learn more about what's going on in Mission: Impossible 7 & 8.
