Minecraft will be getting full PSVR support in a free update that drops tomorrow. This update was announced earlier this month, but at the time, no specific release date was set. This new mode joins a host of other VR offerings, including Minecraft for Oculus Rift, Windows Mixed Reality, and Gear VR.

It's quite impressive that Minecraft is still growing. The iconic sandbox game currently sits as the bestselling video game of all time, boasting over 200 million copies sold. Even though it's been out for almost a decade, and even though the original creator of the game has fallen from grace in a big way, Minecraft is still getting constant updates, and players are still finding new, bizarre ways to interact with it. For example, earlier this year Reporters Without Borders launched the Uncensored Library, a massive Minecraft project containing archived works of journalism that were censored in their home countries.

While players keep finding new ways to make use of the incredible platform Minecraft offers, Mojang is finding more and more ways to innovate and bring the game to as many players as possible. PlayStation confirmed earlier today that the new update will bring PSVR support to the legendary game. As announced when the update was first revealed a few weeks ago, the new PSVR mode will allow players to experience absolutely everything they've come to expect from Minecraft. The update brings all the requisite settings needed to tailor one's VR experience, as well as two distinct modes called Immersive and Living Room. The difference between these two styles isn't outlined in the blog post.

PSVR has always been one of the less prominent VR offerings on the market, often overshadowed by brands like Oculus and Vive. But Sony's VR system shouldn't be overlooked; it has some solid potential, especially given the recent update that added VR support to PS4-exclusive creation platform Dreams. Since Sony has confirmed that it will be adding PSVR support to the PS5, it's a good time to announce new projects that take advantage of the technology. Minecraft fits into this scheme quite nicely.

Minecraft clearly has a rich future ahead of it, maybe even richer than its massively successful past. In addition to this PSVR update, a Minecraft Live show is set to broadcast early next month, which is sure to bring even more big changes to the game. Fans have had nine years to enjoy this vast, beautiful sandbox. Hopefully, they can look forward to many, many more years of Minecraft yet to come.
