The massive gaming hit Minecraft is spreading into the real world, with one fan creating a playable version of the game that works in a real-life treasure chest. This arcade cabinet is every 9 year old’s dream, bringing an iconic part of the game into reality.

Minecraft is arguably the reason that the survival crafting genre is such a big name in the video game industry today. The game places a heavy emphasis on crafting and creativity. It was originally created by a small team in Sweden called Mojang Studios, but has since been picked up by Microsoft for $2.5 billion. Nearly 7 years later, the game continues to bring in new players and money, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S ports on the way.

Typically, fans make their creations inside the game of Minecraft itself. Now one fan has brought an iconic piece of the game into reality by building a real wooden chest from the game. This chest isn’t just any old wooden box for storage, though; it houses an arcade cabinet loaded up with Minecraft. The hinges open up to a fully functional keyboard, joystick, green magic mouse and buttons. This impressive homemade creation was posted on the Minecraft subreddit by user Kashmir03, who says that their brother was responsible for putting it together.

The wooden chest arcade cabinet runs the PC edition of Minecraft, with a laptop housed inside and hooked up to a monitor in the lid of the chest. The wooden replica is not a perfect recreation of the wooden chest from the game, since it needed to be larger than the original block in order to fit all the components. The cabinet does maintain the cubic structure of items from the video game, though. Any kid or adult who loves Minecraft would likely go crazy for a product such as this.

DIY enthusiasts looking for a new home project may want to try their hand at making their own Minecraft cabinet at home. In many ways, this is the ultimate expression of the spirit of creativity that the game fosters in its millions of fans. Beautiful and stunning creations are springing forth from the Minecraft community every day, and now these products are coming to the real world too. Turning passion and hobbies into a craft project can be pretty rewarding, and even if the end product isn’t that impressive, at least it was still made with love
