Hasbro recently announced a new line of Minecraft NERF guns that brings the pillager’s crossbow and the Stormlander weapon from Minecraft Dungeons to life. Despite its over ten-decade-long lifespan, Minecraft is still massively popular. Minecraft players continue to populate the world and let their imagination run wild, with new, exciting builds popping up all the time. And with the highly-anticipated Caves & Cliffs Part 2 Update releasing soon, Mojang’s sandbox will likely entice a greater audience as the holiday season approaches. But plans for the IP don’t end in the virtual world, as new partnerships bring it to life.
The NERF brand is no stranger to video game-based partnerships, having collaborated with various IPs to bring virtual weaponry to the real world. NERF released a line of Fortnite nerf guns including the Heavy Sniper Rifle, the B-AR, and the Pump Shotgun among others. The brand also released the NERF Overwatch Reaper blaster and Overwatch Soldier: 76 Nerf Rival Blaster for fans of Blizzard’s competitive FPS. A more recent partnership between Hasbro and Halo has the company selling the famous Halo Needler as a NERF weapon, which will be released in the U.S. next year. And last year Hasbro released a NERF assault rifle from Halo Infinite that included a DLC code for the game. Now Hasbro is partnering with another popular video game IP that brings the 2D virtual sandbox to life.
The Hasbro and Minecraft partnership brings the block-breaking Pillager’s Crossbow and Minecraft Dungeons Stormlander weapon to life. The all-new line of Minecraft nerf guns is now available for purchase on the Walmart website starting today, November 22. Hasbro also unveiled a new line of Nerf MicroShots that feature the Minecraft Ender Dragon, Minecraft Ghast, and Minecraft Guardian mobs. The line of MicroShots is available for pre-order on the Walmart website along with the other Minecraft Nerf guns. Speaking about Hasbro’s Minecraft collaboration, Adam Kleinman, the General Manager of NERF, said in a statement that “Minecraft inspires and values creative and imaginative play, much like the NERF brand, and we can’t wait for fans worldwide to get their hands on this exciting collaboration.”
Like Hasbro's Fortnite NERF guns, its line of Minecraft NERF guns is certainly interesting. The Pillager’s Crossbow is a staple ranged weapon in Minecraft and is wielded by the dangerous Pillager mobs. Players can obtain the crossbow by defeating Pillagers, though the mob does pose a unique challenge. Minecraft Dungeons’ Stormlander weapon is a unique item obtainable in the top-down dungeon crawler and it gives the wielder the ability to fire lightning bolts at opponents. The Stormlander is based on the mighty Thor and offers a massive advantage over pesky mobs. Both weapons fit well as a NERF blaster, as does the new line of NERF MicroShots that features some of the most powerful mobs in Minecraft.
The partnership between Hasbro and Minecraft is certainly well-timed, especially with the Caves & Cliffs Part 2 Update around the corner. The holiday season is also quickly approaching and NERF is giving friends of Minecraft fans another gift-giving idea.
