It seems that Minecraft fans are getting into the winter season by dressing up their snowy creations. While snowy weather got a massive update in the most recent Minecraft update, it's an older winter feature that is capturing players' attention.

In the Caves & Cliffs Minecraft update, developer Mojang added a host of new features that greatly improved world generation and added the new cave biomes. However, an overlooked aspect of the Caves & Cliffs update is the improvements to Minecraft's mountains and cliffs. The inclusion of powdered snow, which can appear to be normal snow but will let players slip through, potentially freezing to death if they don't escape. In addition, new mountain mobs like goats came to Minecraft, which can knock players off mountains to their potential death. Other threats like Pillagers and the ever-present threat of hostile Minecraft mobs also pose a massive threat to the player. However, the snowy landscape also poses an opportunity for players to enjoy a bit of whimsy.

Redditor juuccaa shared their creation on the Minecraft subreddit, a video that allows them to transform the snow golem into a full-fledged snowman. Like Jack Frost, upon placing the jack-o-lantern head on the snow golem, the golem turns into a snowman, springs to life, and begins moving around. And, to add to the winter cheer, juuccaa shows that they are even able to dress up their snowman, donning him in a top hat and scarf. Unfortunately, the video doesn't appear to show any other features that the snowman has, as this feature was added via a mod, but the player certainly got to enjoy the winter spirit. Other Redditors were quick to chime in about how cool the feature is, asking whether juuccaa could reveal the mod that they used.

Unique Minecraft mods are just one of the many ways that players are able to express their creativity with the game. Mods have transformed Minecraft from a simple, blocky world into a much more lush, detailed world. Other mobs grant unique abilities to the player, create new blocks or change the way existing blocks interact with the world, or even just style the world to look like locations from popular culture. Some mods even add new puzzles, mini-games, quests, and other achievements for players who have already slain the End Dragon.

Even though juuccaa's come-to-life snowman was the result of a mod, that doesn't make it any less interesting. Clearly, other players were intrigued at the possibility of the snow golem, otherwise a fairly mundane entity in Minecraft coming to life. If nothing else, the living snowman allowed some Minecraft players who are cooped up for the winter a chance to enjoy the wonder.
