A brand new Minecraft mod allows players to travel through the fabric of reality to other dimensions. While Minecraft players are most accustomed to using Nether Portals or End Portals to visit the game's two alternative dimensions - the Nether and the End, respectively - this mod opens up the world in brand new ways.

The Nether was the subject of one of Minecraft's biggest updates, which completely transformed the game's version of Hell into a more expansive and diverse world. Minecraft's Nether gained brand new biomes with new mobs, structures, and areas to explore in the brand new underworld. Of course, the Nether update was followed by the massive Caves & Cliffs update which gave a similar facelift to the mountains and caves of Minecraft. Just like the new Nether biomes, the Minecraft Caves & Cliffs update added new biomes to the cave systems like the new Dripstone and Lush Caves. Players have spent the past few weeks exploring these brand new types of caves, but it seems that some players have grown tired of just exploring the overworld.

Shared on Reddit by user Roankster, this creation uses the Immersive Portals mod to create a crack in the Minecraft reality that lets players travel directly through dimensions to the Nether without the use of a Nether portal. The screenshots show the perspective of the player from both the overworld and Nether, letting the player see directly into another dimension. Given that Nether portals usually don't allow the player to see through to what is on the other side, the perspective of actually seeing into the Nether is both beautiful and unnerving.

Of course, this isn't the first time that Minecraft players have taken advantage of mods to enhance their world. Usually, these mods are meant to add quality-of-life improvements and new blocks. More common are the texture packs, which modify the look of the game to make Minecraft worlds hyper-realistic or even just more colorful. Mods that improve the portals in Minecraft have existed for a while, as is the case for this Immersive Portal mod, but these images by Roankster really show the potential for what these worlds could look like.

With The Wild Update coming soon to Minecraft, players will have even more new areas to explore. The upcoming Deep Dark will provide even more new mobs and blocks, as well as new dangers to navigate. For now, though, players can use this mod to make their world even more interesting.
