Reddit user DeltaTwoForce has created a Minecraft mod that lets players build fully functioning computers inside the game. Minecraft is well-known for the high degree of creative freedom it gives players, and that creativity isn't limited to inside the game itself.

Even in the game's earliest stages players were designing new player skins and resource packs that changed the appearance of the entire game. With the advent of the Minecraft Marketplace players can make even more elaborate changes to the game, including full fledged minigames and an elaborate PAC-MAN game. And even outside the marketplace, modders are hard at work, reinventing the game on a regular basis. Minecraft has always been especially rewarding for players with a lot of time on their hands, who can afford to put a lot of effort into creating something wild and elaborate.

Something wild and elaborate is just what DeltaTwoForce created. In a recent Reddit post the user outlined a new mod they've created which allows players to assemble a functioning desktop computer. The parts are ordered from an in-game handheld device and shipped to the player by an airborne drone. Once the delivery has been made players can assemble their computer in their house, installing a motherboard and a hard drive and placing their keyboard and mouse. Once assembled, the computer is completely functional; DeltaTwoForce showed off the mod's functionality by installing Windows 98, running MS Paint, and even playing the original Doom.

This is not the first strange new Minecraft mod DeltaTwoForce has created. Five months ago they programmed "Untitled Chicken Mod," a remake of the first level of the infamous prank simulator Untitled Goose Game featuring the first level completely remade in Minecraft. This mod looks very faithful to its Untitled Goose Game source material, right down to the dedicated honk button and the updating list of mischievous objectives to complete. Even the camera looks true to Untitled Goose Game, with the third-person overhead view from the game standing in stark contrast to the first-person view typically associated with Minecraft. Clearly when it comes to mods DeltaTwoForce knows their stuff.

This computer mod is a remarkable feat. As DeltaTwoForce indicates in the mod's instructions, the in-game PCs are capable of running either Windows 98 or Windows Vista. It is unclear whether or not it's possible to run Minecraft in Minecraft, but even if that's not on the table, this is still a jaw-dropping achievement, ready to join the long legacy of stunning, masterful achievements produced in the game. With each passing day it looks like the old adage is becoming more and more true: in Minecraft, players can build anything in the world.
