Minecraft Steve's entry onto the Super Smash Bros. Ultimate roster has caused mass speculation as to what Kirby's Minecraft form will look like, and one Wii U modder may have predicted the answer two years ago. Kirby is unique among all of the Super Smash Bros. in that he gets an update whenever a new fighter joins the brawl. His copy ability extends to all the fighters, gifting him attacks, hats, and hairstyles from everyone on the roster. Kirby can use Samus' Charge Beam, throw fireballs while wearing a Mario cap, and fling bacon from Mr. Game and Watch's frying pan.

This copy ability comes straight from the pink puffball's platforming adventures, where the various enemies Kirby encounters grant him power over fire, karate, and yo-yos, amongst many other equally diverse forms of attack. These copy abilities are one of the defining traits of the character, popular enough to spawn their own spinoff fighting game that plays similarly to Smash Bros. However, they're not present in every Kirby adventure. More off-the-wall games like Kirby Tilt 'n Tumble and Kirby Mass Attack drop that style of combat in favor of something original. However, the most recent games in the series have focused on expanding the roster of abilities, if not their complexity.

The crossover between Minecraft and Smash Bros. was announced this week, with franchise mascot Steve joining the brawl. However, the deep dive into his mechanics is on hold until just before this year's Minecon, meaning that Kirby fans didn't get to see what Nintendo's cutest hero looked like with his new ability. As reported by Polygon, one fan named Jory Satana thought of this crossover two years ago and modded it into the Wii U edition of the fighting game franchise. Fans quickly stumbled upon the mod and canonized the cuboid Kirby as the only appropriate form for the game.

Minecraft Kirby Super Smash Bros

So, while this isn't an official version of the character just yet, the newly dubbed Minecraft Kirby is certainly gaining fans in the same way that other unofficial Nintendo characters have in the past. It wouldn't go against the forms the character has taken up in the past either. Kirby's entire body shapeshifts into a monotone black and white look when taking on Mr. Game and Watch's abilities, although he doesn't go 2D. A similar effect happens when Kirby absorbs Piranha Plant, as the entire spiked jaw of the Mario enemy almost subsumes the pink hero. Barring a squared-off haircut, a cube Kirby might make the most sense.

Kirby has been absorbing Nintendo mascots since the series origins on the Nintendo 64, and he has more targets than ever in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. He will also have a few more targets on the menu in the coming months, as Super Smash Bros. Ultimate's current season pass is far from over. There are four more spots to fill, and characters rumored for this week's reveal like Crash Bandicoot, Doom Slayer, or the always popular Geno could prove to provide Kirby with more cute forms to utilize on the battlefield.
