Minecraft's most recent update is block-breaking adding new biomes, blocks, and items to the already massive item pool. Minecraft update 1.16, officially named The Nether Update, has drastically changed the Nether adding never before seen mobs and biomes to Minecraft's version of hell. And while the Nether is now much more diverse than its former self, that's not even the biggest change to Minecraft this update. For the first time since Minecraft's conception in 2009, new material has been added to the game that is stronger than diamonds, and it can be crafted into tools and armor.

This new material is called Netherite and is only available in Minecraft 1.16. However, getting a player's hands on this material is a bit tricky. This material can only be found in the lowest parts of the Nether which can be easy to get lost in. It can only be mined with diamond tools, and a locating Netherite can be a bit difficult. But the risk of getting lost and dying is worth the payoff as Netherite is now the strongest material in the game, and it looks incredibly cool.

Where to find Ancient Debris in Minecraft

Ancient Debris is the first thing players will need in order to craft Netherite. That's right, you have to craft gold ingots and Ancient Debris together to get Netherite. But again, the payoff is worth all of the hard work.

Ancient Debris can only be found in the Nether and is more likely to spawn the lower a player goes in the Nether. When looking at the player's coordinates in the Nether, the Y-axis is the one that players should keep track of. The lower the Y-axis number the more likely a player is to come across Ancient Debris. Between Y-level 8 - 22 players can come across 1 to 3 block veins of Ancient Debris, and on Y-levels 22-119 players can find 1 to 2 block veins of Ancient Debris.

However, players won't be able to find Ancient Debris by strolling around the open areas of the Nether. Ancient Debris can only be found by mining into the walls and floor of the Nether as Ancient Debris only spawns completely surrounded by blocks. This means players will need to "strip mine" large areas to collect small amounts of Ancient Debris. Especially since the maximum amount of Ancient Debris a player can find in one chunk (64x64 block radius) is five. Luckily, players do not need an exorbitant amount of Ancient Debris to craft the materials needed to make Netherite Tools and Armor.

How to Craft Nertherite Ingots in Minecraft

Now that the player has more than likely mine a huge hole or tunnel system in the Nether they probably have enough Ancient Debris to craft some Netherite... or they might not. To craft a single Netherite Ingot, players will need four pieces of Ancient Debris and four gold ingots. This can be a bit difficult as each Ancient Debris block only drops a single piece of Ancient Debris regardless of whether the diamond pick has fortune or not.

Once a player has all of the materials needed all they need to do is throw them into a crafting table and collect their ingots. Remember that four Ancient Debris and four gold ingots are all that is required to craft a single Netherite Ingot, and luckily one Netherite Ingot is all that is needed to upgrade a tool or armor piece from diamond to Netherite.
