A release date for Minecraft's upcoming Caves & Cliffs Update: Part 2 has been officially announced by developer Mojang. The highly-anticipated update will act as a follow-up to Caves & Cliffs: Part 1, which launched back in June 2021. Focusing on Minecraft's terrain generation system, the Caves & Cliffs update is meant to improve the way biomes are generated while also adding exciting new content to discover within them.

Releasing back in June, Minecraft's Caves & Cliffs Update: Part 1 added an abundance of new content to the survival sandbox's highest peaks and deepest depths. A number of new animal mobs, such as underwater axolotls, deep-sea glow squids and cliff-climbing goats, were created to populate these previously underwhelming areas and produce new resources. A number of new ores and minerals were also added to the game's cave systems, making the act of exploring underground and mining much more engaging and rewarding. The second part of the Minecraft update is intended to be just as engaging, with Caves & Cliffs: Part 2 adding new features such as brand-new types of caves. Terrain generation is meant to be improved, preventing inconsistencies such as snowy mountains generating next to hot deserts.

In a recent news post, developer Mojang has announced that Minecraft's Caves & Cliffs Update: Part 2 will launch on November 30. The exciting expansion will bring with it updated terrain generation, higher mountains, more elaborate cave systems and candles. However, some previously-planned content is unfortunately being left out of the upcoming update for the sake of time. Archaeology, bundles, and goat horns will sadly not be featured in Caves & Cliffs: Part 2, but the developer indicates that these features will be added to the game in the future.

While the Caves & Cliffs Update has been in the making for some time, Mojang has already announced the next significant update coming to Minecraft in the future. Minecraft's upcoming Wild Update will add two entirely new biomes to the game, each with their own unique themes and aesthetics. Mangrove Swamps are a lush new biome for players to explore that come complete with overgrown mangrove trees and frogs. Traversing these flooded areas will be made easier by the addition of a boat with a built-in storage chest. Meanwhile, the underground Deep Dark biome will task players with exploring brand-new ancient ruins in the Deep Cities. The powerful blind Warden will patrol this creepy biome, and a new organic substance called Sculk adds to the scary vibe by attracting the monstrous foe.

Minecraft fans have long awaited the release of Caves & Cliffs: Part 2, with the update further fleshing out the survival sandbox's mountains and underground tunnels. Terrain generation seems to receive a major improvement in the update's second half, creating a much more immersive experience for players of the block-based title. However, fans are sure to be disappointed that intended features like archaeology have been left out of this release. Still, the long-awaited Caves & Cliffs: Part 2 can finally be enjoyed when the update drops on November 30.
